Absolutely incredible location and food. Paulo, the owner is the epitome of Portuguese hospitality, and his daily fresh dishes are spectacular. Fresh vegetables from his garden, local ingredients, and creative pairings made everything we tried so flavorful, mouth-savoring to every last drop. Three choices for seating - inside (great window seating), on patio or a few steps away right at the edge of the incredible view. We loved it so much that we drove back even after moving to a hotel a distance away. Each visit was a vacation in itself, leaving us not wanting to leave, and spending at least 3 hours the last time because we knew it would be a while before we came back. Can't recommend highly enough,...

An absolute gem of a restaurant in Monsanto. Great waiters by Portuguese standards, with friendly, attentive service and good recommendations. It was boiling hot inside and the outside area isn't fully covered, so it was quite a scorcher at all times of the day. That said, the sunset views are a must-see, and the food is really very good. We tried a multitude of dishes, each of which was exceptional - especially the black pork and wagyu burger. I was curious about the rotis from the Nepalese chefs, but didn't try them this time round. Would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Monsanto and I really hope to...

This place is incredible!! The owner was lovely to us and took the time to chat and explained the whole menu and answered all our questions. All of the staff were incredibly kind despite our minimal Portuguese. The food also really prioritized local food and traditions which was something that made us come back multiple times while we were staying in town. And that's just the food! The location can't be beat. We sat there for sunset and it was incredible to have the bell toll as the sun faded. I'll be telling everyone what an incredible...

I recently visited this enchanting mystic village, and Monsanto Bistrô was a huge surprise in the context of the local offer. The location by itself is worth a visit, the view is stunning and the food menu is as delicious as it is unpretentious, although exquisite in flavours with diverse influences, options for all tastes, and a more than fair price! Had an amazing chat with the owner, Paulo, a world traveler, photographer and a true foodie, who found in Idanha the time and space to put his talent and will into practice. I will be back!

Not a great experience at all. Very disappointing. The service was very poor. Staff did not know what they were doing, and weren't able to explain any of the dishes. Had to change our order 3 times, as each time we were told after a few minutes that the option we choose was no longer available despite it being early during the lunch service and very few patrons in the restaurant. The food was very mediocre, poorly seasoned and took ages to arrive. Only positive was the location, as the outside seating area had some magnificent views.
