We stayed at the hotel for about 4 nights after booking a room in advance.
Unfortunately, the room was closed by a travel agent whose service we were less than satisfied with in retrospect, and only when we arrived at the hotel did we realize that it really did not meet our expectations in every way.
❌ Location - This is a budget business hotel, it is quite close to the airport but very far from the city center, every trip to any major attraction involves a taxi ride of about 25 minutes at least and even more if it is busy hours on the roads. We spent over €200 just on taxis. There is a metro station right next to the hotel 🚇 For those who plan to get around in this way it may be convenient, but for us it was not relevant and therefore the location was shocking in our opinion. This is an outdated residential neighborhood, there is nothing interesting around, not even a normal restaurant can be found within a reasonable distance. Also, the hotel faces 2 huge soccer fields where dozens of men practice every evening and make noise that can be heard all the way to the room! This is in addition to the dozens of ambulances that pass by the road at all hours of the day.
❌ The hotel itself - although it is indicated on the booking that it is a 4-star hotel, reality proves otherwise. I have a lot of experience in a variety of hotels around the world and this hotel should be rated as only 2 to 3 stars. The hotel is very outdated, feels like it was stuck somewhere in the 80s. And unfortunately, it is not maintained adequately. It is a very tall hotel with lots of rooms, the entire time we stayed the hotel was fully occupied and only 2 elevators worked! Even though there are 4. The buttons outside and inside the elevator barely respond and you have to press them hard to choose a floor or order an elevator, because of the crowd and the small number of elevators there was always a queue in the elevator and you always had to crowd in until you reached your floor. The elevator made terrible noises that you could think it was going to get stuck, and the doors close so quickly and hard that they almost closed on me once. And worst of all - the hotel is under renovation! This means that every day from morning to noon there were drilling and knocking sounds that could be heard both in the lobby and in the room! It was very unpleasant and it was inconsiderate of the hotel not to inform the guests of this before booking.
❌ Rooms - also insanely old and not maintained. Furniture is peeling and outdated, the walls are also crumbling, mold in the shower, a dripping air conditioner whose buttons do not respond to changes in temperature and power, an outdated, hard, and very uncomfortable spring bed - I have back pain to this day. The water in the shower changes temperature from cold to hot on its own no matter which way you turn the faucet. The towels are old and worn out and it looks like they haven't been replaced in 30 years. Although after one night they changed us to another room that was a little better, the fact that they even accommodate guests in such a room and that the room they changed us to was also problematic in some parameters is simply delusional in my opinion.
❌ Breakfast - was relatively varied, but the quality of the food was poor and included watery scrambled eggs that looked like someone had vomited on them, and rotten tomatoes.
✅ Service - The only good thing I can write about is the service, which was excellent throughout our stay. The reception, dining room, and security guards were all lovely, professional, and very helpful.
✅ Bar - The hotel bar is very nice, we sat there twice in the evening to watch TV, eat, and drink. The burger was delicious, the beer was good, and we enjoyed the atmosphere.
In conclusion - The hotel is mainly suitable for people looking for a cheap hotel or people who need to sleep there for one night. Not suitable for a long stay, and certainly not if you expect comfort and pampering. Very far from all the action, lacks a pool/spa. I would not recommend it...
Read moreI stayed in this hotel for 2 nights on a business trip. Check-in was not easy despite the fact that booking was done by the company. The receptionist said I had to come back in 2 hrs to get my room! You can imagine the pain when you had to go to the airport at 3 am and a 5 hours flight, how exhausted you could be! After 2 hrs, I got the key to my room. The elevators' buttons are very high wighout any facility for wheelchairs. When opening the room, the strong smell of old smoke blows to your face, and interestingly, a sign says: this is a non-smoking room! Thanks heavens that the window opened a bit! Although the room had a rather nice view but the glasses were so dirty that you preferred not to look through them. The furniture is old with low maintenance. There are no slippers for the guests, and you should walk on the carpets with barefoot after taking a shower. The toilet has developed black mould, showing that it has not been disinfected or even washed properly. The ventilator has a black ring of smoke around it, showing the ignored no smoking sign!! The shower is very slippery, and the risk of fall is very high as there are no handles or bars to grasp when needed. There is some sort of key with a rope hanging on the wall that you don't know what it does. There is no sign attached to help you! The bathroom's door from inside is falling apart and needs serious repairs. There is only one restaurant on the 1st floor. The options for the breakfast are sufficient and well supplied. However, some tomatoes were not clean or boiled eggs were all with broken shells that made them exposed to bacteria and contamination easily. The lunches were acceptable, but chewy octopus was far from what you expected from a chef in Portugal, knowing the popularity of pulpo. The entrance door to the kitchen is so dirty that it will certainly contaminate the hands of gjose in charge of serving the food. The location of the hotel is excellent as it is just a few minutes from the airport. Some taxis do not accept credit cards, and you need to carry some cash with you. If you book a taxi, you need to ask for one that accepts the type of your card. I am not sure if I will come back to this hotel unless I know that it is...
Read moreThe team at the Ramada did their best to make it a great experience - nice people work there. I really appreciated Carlos’ support in arranging the hop on/hop off in Lisbon and giving good suggestions on other activities. The woman at the desk with dark hair, whose name I unfortunately can’t remember was very friendly and offered helpful advice as well. This was a budget friendly choice for us, and overall it was an ok stay. I am sharing the feedback below to help others considering a stay here. The location was relatively convenient but not as central as we had expected. That said it was right on The Metro line making it easy to get into the actual city centre. Free breakfast was a nice addition and part of the reason we booked, but the selection could have been more varied. Some of the food did not meet our expectations specifically the runny scrambled eggs and the stale hash brown potatoes. Good coffee is a must for me, and the coffee machines were ok, but inconvenient and a bottleneck when things got busy. The elevators were not all working during our stay which was also an inconvenience especially being in the 18th floor. Our stay was split as we had a few days in Porto, so we had 2 different rooms at the Ramada. The rooms themselves are adequate but dated, there is significant wear and tear. The beds were reasonably comfortable, but smaller and less plush than what we are accustomed to as North American travellers, still not bad but I guess you get what you pay for. The bathrooms in both of our rooms were clean, but water pressure was poor, making it hard to get a great shower. We did stay on the 18th floor, not sure if that had an impact. Housekeeping tidied the room daily, but I’m not sure how often they...
