We have just returned from a group family holiday in Portugal, staying at L'Auberge Casa do Monte near Vilamoura. We had a fantastically relaxing week in the very spacious villa. Each room as a double/twin with ensuite. There are 11 bedrooms in total, a large living area, a good size kitchen and a terrace. Many of the rooms also have terraces and kitchenettes. The villa is very clean and in good order. We took full use of the fab tennis courts and large pool. Its not heated, so is a little fresh, but even in April with a good day of sunshine, we were able to have a bit of a dip. ||||In our party of 11 we had 4 children, and it suited us really well. The house is child friendly and we felt very safe. If you are worried about the pool area, with enough notice Joelle offered to put a fence around the swimming area. We were okay without this.||||I really enjoyed being up in the hills, the views are amazing. The only noises we could hear were the odd dog barking. It was pretty peaceful. We hired bikes, as recommended, and really enjoyed exploring the area. You can cycle to the beach in 20 minutes or so. There are also some great restaurants, supermarkets and cafe's in the area. The owner, Joelle will give you all the details. She really couldn't have been more helpful during our stay. ||||We took turns in cooking in the kitchen or in the barbeque area by the pool. We ate out on the terrace every night. The kitchen has enough equipment to provide for a large group. If you don't want to cook you can pick up takeaways very easily near by.||||We absolutely loved our stay. We will definitely be back.||||Thank you Joelle and...
Read moreThis will be the most honest review you will read, regarding this villa.|The outside of the villa is as nice as the photos but there is plenty that the photos don't show you. |1. Patio door would not lock - it took owners 3 days to get it sorted.|2. No window or working light in our self catering kitchen, it was pitch black - owner knew about the problem well before we came and obviously did nothing.|3. Nothing in our self catering kitchen.... No knives, forks, spoons, plates, cups, pots, pans. No microwave, no kettle, no toaster, no coffee machine.|4. Door to our 6 inch freezer was broken.|Main communal fridge freezer was on its last legs, we had to throw away well over £100 worth of meat.|5. Outdoor fridge simply did not work at all.|6. No gas in outside cooker, owner said they would replace but by the end of a two week holiday they still didn't bother.|7. No air con in one room, this room was pretty much unused as it was hot beyond belief, instead we had the kids sleep with us so we could donate a cool room to our friend |8. Big infestation of ants inside villa|9. The most disgusting collection of very old worn knives, forks, glasses, pots and pans in main kitchen.|10. Holding £750 deposit over a key that a guest accidentally took home.|11. Our bed only had 3 legs|12. Mattresses were by far the most uncomfortable I have ever slept on in my life.|||I could go on and on. The owners are just rubbish at what they do and considering that we had to pay thousands of pounds per WEEK, you could spend some of that money on DESPERATELY needed equipment for the villa, especially as you claim that it is self...
Read moreWe have just returned from a week in L'Auberge Casa do Monte as we had booked it for our wedding day through Algarve Events.||||We had a wonderful time - the villa is traditional yet has all of the mod cons required for a good getaway. ||||All bedrooms (with the exception of one) have air-con, there is Wi-Fi (although it does drop out if you are not in the main lobby area (who needs it on holiday anyway!), the pool is beautiful (not heated but a pleasant relief when it gets too hot in the sun).||||We had a couple of problems with water supply / ants but the owner was all over it for us and did everything she could within in hour of me contacting her - we couldn't have asked for more.||||TIPS: TAKE MOSQUITO REPELANT. During the evenings there are so many up there (in the hills) so ensure you have some packed. Tennis rackets are all worn beyond use - if you are a keen tennis player bring your own plus balls. Hairdryers are in ALL rooms - no need to pack. ||||Views of Vilamoura are just breath taking - very much like being in LA.||||Joell (the owner) provided us with a local taxi firm (Anna was her name). They were brilliant - on a meter (as per all cabs out there) and always with us within 20 mins of calling.||||Yu do need at least one car to do rubbish runs (skips are down the road) and shopping but nothing is too far away.||||The Villa is just brilliant - we will be...
