Palácio da Lousã Boutique Hotel — Hotel in Lousã

We stayed in the “new” wing of the hotel. Two our rooms were on -1 floor, kind of a basement, and as a results had limited light. Also there is no privacy as anyone who walking outside can see the room. The room is very dated. The AC didn’t work properly and made noises, the air had cigarette smoke smelling, so we didn’t use it at all. The bathroom, is not good either, the shower is super basic, sink was clogged. If it is not enough, there were a lot of ants in the room. On the table, in the bathroom etc.

I asked to change the room, but there was no free room at the hotel. Hard to believe as the hotel is huge. They agreed to switch room to the same type in next night.

The service was generally good. In last night I needed wine opened which was not in the room. I went to the reception and ask for wine opener, the clerk said he doesn’t have it and send me to the restaurant.. in the restaurant, they said I have to pay 6 euro in order to use opener at my room! I was shocked. At the end they agreed to give it for free.

I will not recommend to stay in this hotel. It has huge potential, but they have to update the rooms and change the attitude to the guest. The amenities are top-notch – we especially enjoyed the serene outdoor pool area and the relaxing spa. The breakfast buffet was delicious with fresh local ingredients, and the on-site restaurant served one of the best meals we’ve had in Portugal, featuring regional flavors with a gourmet twist.
