Hotel Premium Porto Maia — Hotel in Maia

I have stayed in this hotel several times due to work and its location but now this trip is 100% the last time. I guess when it was first opened it was probably very nice but those days have long gone. This week I Unfortunatley had to stay again here through No choice of My own and it is exactly the same low standard. The negative comments you read on the different booking sites are all true. The damp/ fusky smell starts your experience. This has been the same since My first stay in around 2013. Hard beds, dirty rooms, elivators not working, poor quality Food, Air conditioning.. it Either does not work or when it does it makes really load noises that make it hard to sleep.... but this stay we came back after working all day and wanted some Food.. time was around 23.30. Very late but the barman told us we could get Food. We ordered and ate our toastie and drank our Beer. My collegue went to pay and the barman added up the Bill in his head-€18, 2x ham and Cheese toastie costing €5 each ( menu cost €3) And 2 small Beers €4 each (menu cost €3). My collegue payed but when I questioned the Bill the barman apologised about getting it wrong👍 instead of immediately returning the €6 he had overcharge he instead offered to fix us a drink that following night!!

The rooms are filthy and the curtains look like they are 100 years old and haven't been laundered ever... the floors are so dirty that walking barefoot isn't recommended. If you're staying there on business and expect to have a good WiFi signal, forget it. No signal and weak security. The shower drain was clogged with a hairball the size of a small animal and the TV didn't work. No smart TV so bring your FireTV stick or Chromecast if you want to watch anything other than local TV. The bad condition of the rooms and facilities could almost be forgiven if the customer service was good, but even that is poor!!! It was just awful.

And to top it all of, if you want to eat your complimentary breakfast in your room by carrying it from the cafe to your room yourself, they will try to charge you 5 Euro rooms service fee for the food included in your room charge...

Thankfully this will be the last time I have to stay there and our company has also decided to end our contract with this hotel due to the many issues encountered on multiple stays. I don't recommend this hotel to anyone for business or pleasure.

Stay away from this place unless you're used to...

A well located hotel with spacious, clean and modern rooms with large bathrooms, but which in my mind isn't a 4 star as is indicated. I would say more like a 3 star. From a high room the views are great and the staff is friendly. The hot water in my room didn't work. So cold shower in the morning (room 1002). Breakfast was ok, but lacking a wider choice that a true 4 star hotel might offer. I can never understand why certain healthy choices such as muesli and natural (unsugared) yoghurts are not available. Additionally, when I was relaxing in my room in the evening, with the door "locked" inside, somebody opened the door and almost came inside. The hotel had given a key to another guest without realising that the room was occupied. Not good. There is competition in the area near the airport, so I probably won't return. It was too expensive for what it was. I would expect something like around 75% of what I paid in order to say it was good...
