A nice Holiday Inn Express property north of the main city center.||First the pros:|- Super helpful reception staff. Were willing to help us with every thing we needed as tourists.|- Gracious breakfast area staff. Always wishing us and thanking us.|- compact, modern room layouts.|- windows that open to let in fresh air.|- good wifi signal.|- bus stop to catch the 601 to downtown Porto right in front of hotel.|- good water pressure in shower.|- decent free breakfast with great coffee selection, hot scrambled eggs, cold ham, Turkey, cheese, variety of pastries, selection of juices. We loved it and fueled up well before our downtown walks.||Now the cons:|- this hotel is close to the ports. Not really a con. Just an observation 🙂|- it's quite a distance from the main city center. That being said the 601 bus will take you right to the Cordreira in about 30 to 40 minutes depending on traffic.|- not much around the hotel as far as restaurants, sights etc. Everything worth seeing is a bus or Uber ride away.|- there is a self service laundry about a 12 minute walk to the north east of the hotel. Ask the reception for direction and make sure you have euros as the laundry facility does not take credit cards.|- the bathroom in my room (214) could have used a little fix up. There was a small patch of flooring missing right outside the shower. We covered it with a bath mat so it didn't bother us. A little chlorine/bleach solution could've taken care of the few mold areas at the corners of the bathtubs. Pictures included.|- No safe in the room.|- No fridge in the room.||That's it. Very little to complain about honestly. ||All in all a good stay and we...
Read moreHotel 95% occupied by Fiba U20 European Championships. Got a room on a floor fully occupied by young basketball players. No prior notification of General Manager.
Major noise problems during the night (slamming doors, loud group conversations, laughters, telephone calls, kine sessions & laundry collections in corridor … ), no standard coffee & tea making facilities in the room, no technical assistance to fix TV Lcd problems in the room, no Duty Manager available between 22:00 and 12:00 , …
IHG Guest Relations asked the hotel to fix the issues seriously. The General Manager was not willing to do. She cancelled my reservation for the 6 remaining nights. No excuses, no relocation at the nearby Holiday Inn Porto-Gaia or the nearby Crowne Plaza Porto, no compensation for the experienced discomfort during the first night and for the extra expenses of a 6 nights re-accommodation. I was left to myself to look after and to pay for another hotel.
*Complaint not taken seriously by the hotel owner (no answer). Issue is being handled now by IHG.
Holiday Inn Express Porto don't care about IHG elite members. I prefer returning to the Holiday Inn Porto-Gaia, the Crowne Plaza Porto and the Intercontinental Porto with much better location, staff,...
Read moreOk so I stayed here one night on the 25th of June for an emergency since my flight out of Porto was cancelled. I decided to wait 2 months before writing this review since I was still hoping eventually I would be able to solve my problem with this hotel and I don't like writing negative reviews. However, after 2 months of discussions via email, phone and even sending a friend which lives in Porto over there to talk to management my patience is over. They doubled charged me on my one night stand, clearly a mistake of the front office since they told me my first credit card did not go thoguh and took a second one and charged me for 2 diffrent amounts (100 and 70 euro). They do not admit the mistake, have not been able to provide an invoice and now they told me I need to speak to some agency which just told me they do not even have a website to make reservations which means it's a b2b agency they use at the hotel. Anyhow, long story short the management of this hotel and specifically the front desk manager lady is a complete disaster so I hope you never have to deal with her or that you don't have any issue with payments or credit...
