Oportocean Hostel & Suites — Hotel in Matosinhos

Oportocean is a small nice Hostel next to the beaches of matosinho. There are quiet a few nice beachbreaks for intermedia Surfers, also for those who wanna learn "how to". Its a 2min drive by car or an easy 10min walk. Next to the Hostel you can find nice restaurants, best Fish in town and also Shopping areas. On the Beach you have Mini-Golf and older buildings/ruins too. Now with the European Cup they Show all the Games on an huge screen down the beach.||The Hostel: When i arrived i was welcomed as i come to an Friends Place. They explaned every detail of their Place, Details of the area, i got a map, freewifi Code and also a nice glas of port-wine. Very nice Chat and i knew everything i needed to know after my welcome. Also the next days, all the stuff was funny-Chat Active and super friendly. Definitely the best thing in this hostel.||Free breakfast 9-11AM. Tea, Different Bread, cheese, ham and Serails. All what u need for'n good start.||Free very strong Wifi||Free parking in front of the Hostel.||Nice kitchen and living room with TV and videogames.||I slept in an Shared dorm with 7 others. Every bed has and locker+key, Reading Lamp and Outlet! I am a home owner in the area of this Hostel. This hostel is a bad place to stay, facing a highway-like road with absolutely NO OCEAN VIEW, and they are absurdly disconnected from the neighbourhood they are inserted in. They do not care one bit for any of the houses around them, they do not keep the piece or care to have any kind of relationship with their surrounding neighbours, being the most arrogant, self-centered and entitled people to ever represent the beautiful city of Matosinhos. Because of them our surrounding gardens have been constantly vandalised and destroyed because they neglect to inform their guests that their GPS coordinates cross through other people´s private property, while littering, breaking fences and overall breaking the peace. If there was ever a reason to be against AirBnb´s or Hostels in this gentrified era Portugal, Oportoocean Hostel & Suites re-incarnates the ultimate reason and argument to...

This small hostel is run by nice people and is convenient if arriving by car as it is on the main road and free street parking is available. It is over 2kms from the beach, so a 30 minute walk or 5 mins by car but then finding a parkiing spot in Matosinhos is a problem. ||||We had the basement room with the terrace which was small, but very clean, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was very small but nice. No table to put your stuff on in the room which is irritating as I had to charge by tablet on the floor. ||||There was a lot of noise from 7am onward from the other guests upstairs and drilling from somewhere else. The breakfast was basic: toast, cheese, ham, cereal and you have to wash up. I don't mind that if it is cheap but the room is 45€ which is the price of a good room in a hotel or even an apartment.
