After a delightful day exploring the stunning coastline, we arrived at Casa do Lado, our serene hideaway nestled at the end of a quiet dead-end street. Promising a peaceful retreat, Casa do Lado ensures a sound sleep away from the bustling city noise. Managed by the warm and welcoming siblings, the Malpique brother and sister, this charming guesthouse features five thoughtfully designed rooms. Each space is crafted with the utmost care and an artistic touch, making it evident that the designer envisioned a home as comforting as their own.

We were fortunate to stay on a night when dinner was offered—a rare treat provided just once or twice a week. In the quaint patio, where we would enjoy a fresh breakfast the following morning, the gracious sister served us an exquisite meal that truly captured the essence of local cuisine. The patio, a beautifully inviting space, became a favorite spot for my wife who spent hours there the next day, immersed in her book.

Staying at Casa do Lado was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The accommodation is beautifully designed, thoughtfully furnished, and equipped with everything you need for a comfortable multi-day stay.

Tomás and Mariana, the incredible hosts, truly go above and beyond to ensure a memorable visit. Not only are they warm and welcoming, but they are also outstanding chefs! The level of service they provide is unparalleled. Tomás was a great help with local tips and even took care of making reservations for us at some extraordinary restaurants in town.

Breakfast each morning was fresh, delicious, and clearly prepared with care and attention to detail. One of the highlights of our stay was their willingness to prepare a dinner for us during the winter season – an amazing gesture. Their regional dishes were nothing short of amazing, and we highly recommend taking the opportunity to savor their cooking.

This is probably the best stay we had in Portugal so far. Ever since we found it a couple of years back we keep coming here.

There’s a small but very fine choice of rooms, fully equipped, clean and hygienic with everything you would ask for on vacation.

The general atmosphere is incredibly hospitable and friendly while professional and discrete at the same time.

We appreciate the genuine mix of traditional Portuguese/alentejano interior combined with modern aesthetic elements and art.
