stress full actually: i am always very uncomfortable to complain at the restaurant, but this experience is shockingly bad, i think that the good reviews come from the fact that the hotel account is connected with a restaurant one. the food was really repulsive, full of oil, not tasty. 18€ cheeseboard with supermarkets bread on it and the cheapest cheese selection? quite disrespectful, specially that you can get amazing cheese from açores, if you want. the problem is that the translations on the english menu are terrible and chippies are called french fries, veal strips are apparenty pica pau and garlic sausage is mashed chicken pulp, really not tasty. worst orange juice i ever had, they sad they did not add water, but the quality of oranges is not there. the service was really really pleasant until they asked us if we liked food and we just very respectfully said we did not and we are sad about this and basically we were told that if we come from another country we should not expect that it will be the same. the thing is that we live in portugal for 2 years and are a bit done with being treated like tourists, but the waitress was really kind in the beginning, maybe she took our complaint personally therefore the reaction: but she was actually the best part of this experience cause greeted us very lovely. i talked to the owner later, i was calm and respectful, she listened to me and then informed that no compensation will be made - and it surprised me. if the drink would be offered, even this, i would not be even typing this opinion now. but why would you loose your 3€ on a tourist that comes back to their country next weekend? just very sad and dissapointing that when you complain not like a karen, you are not being taken seriously. first time in my life that i left...
Read moreHow this place has good reviews blows my mind. One of the most disappointing restaurant experience ever. So much so, that I created a Google account just to leave this review/warning for other potential guests. We ordered French fries, believing that the whole world agreed what French fries are, yet here they believe its lays chips. The garlic sausauge, which is not actually a sausauge, but more like a deep fried fat soggy croquette, was diagnosed to trigger your gag reflex. The cheesplate of 18 euros makes you lose all respect for Portuguese cheeses (which actually can be amazing) and the veal strips were raw and hard to chew. When the staff asked how the food was, we kindly, honestly and respectfully informed them it was a bit disappointing with constructive feedback. F. e. that maybe some dishes were lost/misunderstood in translation on the menu (such as the French fries or this sausage). As a reply we were told that we got what we ordered and to quote "that we come from another country we simply cannot expect it to be the same". I found this so extremely offensive, even more so as I live in Portugal for quite some years already. Gives the vibe of not giving af about your guests as they are tourists and will leave anyways. Well we did leave; disappointed, still hungry and with an...
Read moreNO CARD PAYMENT If I should review the food I would have given 5 stars. The food was really delicious and well balanced. I tried 2 meat dishes (lamb tapas) and the Wednesday dish (king prawns with rice and asparagus). Everything was perfectly balanced and the service was perfect. The ladies I found there work as crazy and they manage to be super kind, they also offered us some local drinks. Unfortunately, as many restaurant in the city, they don’t accept electronic payments. So after looking a bit around I could notice this is something usual and accepted. For a European person this is completely unacceptable and very unusual. On the same evening I avoided 2 or 3 restaurant that stated thy didn’t accept the cards, so I would have appreciated if this place had put a sign or something on...
