Hotel Portinari — Hotel in Porto

An excellent location for my needs, with the lovely Casa Do Alto Gallery a short distance away (the reason for my business trip) and just across the road from numerous transport links outside the Hospital de S.Joao, a tram link to the centre of town and buses to places a little further afield. It was nice to be not in right the centre of town, with the cheaper price, but with easy access to the cultural sights.||A very well run hotel with an excellent cold buffet breakfast (included in the price) with a good selection of teas. My room was emaculate and included the all important balcony for some private sunbathing. Staff were very accommodating and willing to go out of their way with any requests. A good selection of Ports and beer to try at the bar. (Although for other local wines I would recommend a short trip across the road to a small "off licence" where the slightly eccentric owner is happy to advise and open the bottle for you, another little find!) All the staff were friendly and nothing was any trouble. There's also a post office on the same street for those of you that still send...

I was temporarily accommodated here and unfortunately have to speak due to shortcomings: 1. The receptionist of your hotel does not speak English: We have been able to communicate with hands and feet, but I expect at least a good command of English in a hotel. The lady from the reception was very eager to help and friendly, but also visibly overwhelmed with the situation. 2. lack of cleanliness in the rooms: The hotel, which is aging and in urgent need of renovation, has a hygiene problem. There was hair from previous guests in the shower, the floor was sticky, and it looked very dirty overall, even though a cleaner had been on duty. I was disgusted to shower here. 3. breakfast included: little choice of fresh food, a lot of shrink-wrapped discount goods. The quality should be reconsidered here. All in all, I was glad to have stayed...

Wir, zwei Personen, blieben im Oktober 2016 für drei Nächte.||||Service:||Sehr freundlich, hat gut bei Fragen weitergeholfen. Eine kleine Misskommunikation gab es allerdings: Da wir am Abreisetag sehr früh abreisten, wurde uns von einem Rezeptionisten abgeboten, das Frühstück (welches normalerweise ab 7:30 eingenommen werden kann) früher einzunehmen. Wir freuten uns über dieses Angebot und nahmen es an. Als wir das dann aber am Abreisetag machen wollten, wusste der andere Rezeptionist nichts davon. Er improvisierte dann aber ein wenig, sodass wir doch noch Cornflakes, Kaffee und ein wenig Obst essen konnten. Sehr nett, trotz Misskommunikation!||||Zimmer:||Groß, man hatte ausreichend Platz für alles. Uns frierte in der Nacht ein wenig, aber im Kleiderschrank befanden sich zwei Wolldecken, die wir dann nutzen und die das Problem lösten. Es gab ebenfalls einen Flachbildfernseher. (Hier konnte man Sendungen auf englisch mit portugiesichen Untertiteln schauen und verstand somit trotzdem etwas :-)) Das Internet funktionierte bei uns im zweiten Stock ganz gut, könnte aber besser sein. Ein nettes Gimmick war ansonsten noch der Deckenspiegel und ein kleiner Balkon, auf dem wir uns allerdings nicht aufhielten.||||Zum Bad: Es verfügte über eine sehr große, geräumige Dusche und Körperpflegeprodukte wurden zur Verfügung gestellt. Am Wasserhahn befand sich ein wenig Rost, aber das war okay. Die Schiebetür zum Bad quietsche etwas, sodass die jeweils andere Person oft aufwachte, wenn jemand nachts ins Bad gegangen ist.||||Frühstück:||Lässt sich leicht zusammenfassen: Kaffee, Tee, Fruchtsäfte, Obstkorb (Bananen, Äpfel, Zwetschgen, ...), Brötchen, süßes Gebäck (Muffins, ...), Aufstriche. Alles in allem qualitativ sehr gut, es ist alles vorhanden.||||Lage:||Etwas außerhalb, aber immer noch im Rahmen. Das Hotel liegt ca. sieben Gehminuten von der Metrostation Hospital São João entfernt, was zudem auch die Endstation ist. Um in die Stadt zu kommen fährt man mit der Metro Richtung Trindade oder zum Bahnhof São Bento. Hierfür muss man auch gar nicht umsteigen.||||[Um das Hotel zu finden, gehen Sie in die entgegengesetzte Richtung der Metroschienen. Auf der linken Straßenseite kommt irgendwann ein Burgerrestaurant mit einem runden Schild. (Vorher kommt noch eine Tankstelle, als Anhaltspunkt.) Gehen Sie in die Straße beim Burgerrestaurant, dann sehen Sie schon das Schild...
