Jojo Imperial Resort & SPA — Hotel in Băile Herculane

5 star hotel maybe if it were in parallel universe. Starting with the rooms. We had an apartment. Size was modest but bed matress was like sleeping on a stone, one of the remote controls of the air conditioner was not working, we had a lamp almost falling from the wall and the first night we slept with 2 huge spiders the size of a ping pong ball we only discovered the night after. We had another room for my parents where the floor carpet had waves all over, if you were distracted you could easily fall. One of the supports from the door of the room fell down on the 2nd day. Food left us speechless... on the negative. Absolutely horrible, we only ate there because, and this brings me to location, the hotel is far away from the center of Herculane. Breakfast was despicable as well. The pools are a danger zone. On the stairs you have nails where once used to be a support bar. Also, on the outside pool you have 2 nails coming out of the side of the pool where you also had a support bar. Same happens with the inside pool. The treatment pool that is down from the outside pool is a desgrace as well. They claim to change the water daily but that is a lie. Also, that whole space is surrounded by garbage and when we pointed this out we were told that that is not our problem. Only one lady was nice and always smiling. The other staff I prefer not to even mention. In resume, I do not recommend and I regret spending so much money for such poor treatment and...

Would have rated 5 stars if it was graded a 3-star hotel and priced accordingly. Nice but falls short for its claimed 5 stars.

Pools schedule too limited to be useful (shuts down at 8 evening and in theory opens at 8 morning however they do maintenance until noon).

Funny there was an actual chain with a lock on the fancy glass restaurant door outside the [also limited] operating hours. I doubt any 5 star paying customer would even consider lifting anything form an otherwise empty restaurant hall.

Room clean, enjoyed the continental breakfast, but lacking variety. Parking lot in front.

Staff ok, polite, except for the late evening guardian I ran into when trying to find the pools and restaurant which were obnoxiously locked by actual chains. He interrogated me what am I doing there and invited me back to my room.

AC in room but made by a knock off brand twisted to sound like a known brand.

Lots of solar PV panels outside, gives off the impression they care about green stuff, but most of them (75%) were installed at weird angles (some close to horizontal plane others close to perpendicular to ground) having I would imagine poor efficiency. Granted, there was 1 bank of them at seemingly proper angle as well. Not that this affects your comfort, but just weird.

One star because we made reservations 5 days in advance and when we arrived at the location after a 300 km drive they told us there are no reservations. After a short investigation it turned up they had an error in the booking system which deleted all bookings that were made that day. Our reservation still remained on paper but was not re-booked in the system after the error. They just booked others on the space freed up by the error giving no considerations to previous engagements. Since there were no free rooms in their other location, we had to drive back home.

The attitude from the receptionist and her boss was: sorry we can’t do anything more. We’re sorry!
