Hotel Metropolis — Hotel in Bistrița

I chose this hotel as I was in a business trip in Bistrița and I wanted a comfortable place to stay. Well, it wasn't so. The first impression was very good. Then I started to notice things that I didn't liked at all. First of all, the sheets were not washed properly. In the morning I realized, that there were a stain on it and probably the person that prepared the room didn't notice it. Fortunately, in the morning the sheets were changed. Then, in the shower, the water didn't drain completely after the shower, so it wasn't really comfortable to go in the shower again. As you can imagine, the water started to smell after a couple of hours. The breakfast was very basic, not so much to choose. I was expecting something better in a 5* hotel. I know that Bistrița isn't Bucharest, but still. And not the last - lack of possibility to pay online for the stay. My stay was booked by the company through a system of booking, which was connected with an online card of the booking company and they weren't able to just take the payment from the card. They needed to complete all the data from the card (including CCV code, that in all online payments is hidden) on the payment terminal. So I lost more than 30 minutes because I needed to call this booking company and ask them to solve out this problem, because in reality, there is no possibility to pay for the stay online. Terrible experience. We've booked the presidential suite for new year's eve hoping that we can have a good time and celebrate the new year, but it all turned out to be awful! The main problem was the temperature of the room, which was mostly around 29-30 degrees (Celsius). The Air conditioner wasn't working at this floor, the windows couldn't be opened, and even after notifying the staff about the insupportable conditions, they haven't done anything. We couldn't sleep at all and our new year celebration was ruined as well. Besides the unbearable temperature, the jacuzzi wasn't working either, and several bulbs were bad (not working), so the rooms were quite dark... Not what we expected from a 5 star hotel. Wouldn't...

The hotel was once the best in Bistrita, now it’s in disrepair. Nothing worked as it was supposed to, dirty sheets, almost no water drainage in the shower, very economica lights and not all working creating a bleak atmosphere. It was very hot in the room for, and the aircon didn’t work. I had to choose my poison - either open the one window you could barely open and invite all the mosquitoes from the nearby polluted river, or endure a very hot night by myself 😅 I cut my stay short and book a night at another hotel in the town.
