Well located hotel. Rooms are nice, clean and a bit dated. Hotel is under needed lobby renovation. Front desk staff is nice and attentive. Breakfast restaurant staff strained to smile, maybe shy to communicate. Breakfast food and area is nice. The toaster is a conveyor that does not convey, so it was fun to “grill” my toast (tempted to throw a hot dog on the grill but resisted the urge). Hotel was not busy and very quiet on a Sunday night. Renovation crew got to work just before eight o’clock on Monday morning and unavoidably loud. So no issues if you needed to get up before eight o’clock which was wake up time for everyone in the building. Rooms were pretty nice. Parking lot is right out front and small but ample enough for now due to low occupancy. Good location in a great, really special town!

A great choice. Clean, affordable and very polite employees. Good position, close to the pedestrian area. Breakfast for any taste.

We have stayed at the Coarona de Aur approximately 12 times since 2005 ! There is 1 five star hotel in Bistrita but it does not have the heritage or finesse of the Coarona ! There is ample parking at the Coarona at the front is their private (free) parking and at the side of the hotel then 20 seconds across the road in front of city Hall also free ! Perhaps too much free and very safe parking so some previous reviews seem puzzling! Perhaps they were at a different Hotel ! The restaurant is fantastic the Ciorba de Burta is possibly the best in Romania! Consistent for 17 years at least ! A great menu delicious food and fantastic friendly staff who are very professional, obviously a tradition of good training of staff at this Hotel ! The restaurant cloakrooms and toilets are amazing! Hundreds of tonnes of marble the most opulent toilets I ever saw and I have stayed at the Ritz London , Raffles Sing , George V Paris etc etc … I know a great hotel I have travelled the world and stayed in every major luxury chain ! The rooms are well appointed with good sized balcony to view the City and British pocket sprung top quality beds ! Great bathrooms with luxurious tiled finish! Very clean very good house keeping ! Buffet breakfast delicious with local produce, fresh Romanian tomatoes and sheep cheese plus good English breakfast ! This hotel is unbeatable for quality price and location you are right in the centre but the triple glazed German windows cut all the noise ! Fantastic! Long May this Hotel last it is a great Romanian...

The parking lot is a joke - 98 rooms and less than 10 parking spots, all occupied by restaurant clients. The air conditioning panel is just for design. The temperature setting only goes up, the down button does nothing. The temperature and fan settings are controlled from the reception anyway... They forgot to pay their internet service so the wifi is useless. The lady from the reception did not bother to tell us the way to our rooms when we arrived. The room was dirty the first day. The door cards did not work when we received them; we had to go downstairs with our luggage and ask for help. This time they worked, but they stopped working a few hours later and had to be reassigned yet again. The food is ok, serving in the restaurant was very nice, the breakfast is tasteful and varied. The shower door is 25 cm smaller in width than the shower cabin and water flows from underneath it flooding the bathroom when taking a shower. There is no vanity set so if you forgot your earbuds at home, good luck taking that water out. There is a shower cap though which they don't bother replacing the next day if...

I slept at the Hotel Corona in Bistrita, Romania, from the 18th to the 19th of May. I went on a tourism trip organized by Pinto Lopes Viagens. I found that the hotel was modern but in my room there was no air conditioning functioning or internal telephone. I went down to the reception and asked for a change of room because the air conditioning working is essential for me to sleep and breathe properly. They informed me that they were full and so they couldn't change my room. I spoke to the tour guide and explained the situation to her. She went to the front desk and insisted that I change my room. They replied that they could change my room but that they did not guarantee that the air conditioning was also working in that new room. I had to sleep with the window open and spent the night being bitten by mosquitoes. I had a horrible night. I spoke to other travelers and some also said that their air conditioning didn't work either. I hated this hotel.|Rui...
