Pensiunea Luisa Craiova — Hotel in Craiova Metropolitan Area

If you're looking for a hotel on a par with the Hilton, this isn't it. It is however, cheap, clean and friendly.||||If it's your first time in Criaova and you're flying in on the evening flight, be prepared to look a little bewildered. I arrived at about midnight local time to the tiny little airport in Craiova. Amazingly, the office I had arranged my rental car with was open and whilst I couldn't pick up my car until the following day, the guy in the office was incredibly helpful and ordered me a cab (and arranged to bring the car to me the following day).||||Unfortunately, the taxi driver didn't know the hotel and when we got there (about a 10 minute drive from the airport) it was a dark, quiet empty looking street with nobody around. We pulled up outside a hotel with a large sign saying Hotel Bavaria (which he, and I obviously assumed was the same place). I called and was told that yes, I was in the right place. So I jumped out of the taxi and began crossing to the hotel, only to find a guy 100yds down the road waving at me. It seems the Bavaria is not the same hotel.||||He let me in through a very small glass door that looked slightly suspicious, and not very hotel-ly. ||||However, at the reception desk I registered and he took me to room 7.||||The doors lock with an old style chubb lock (not a modern hotel card system) but this is fine. The room was quite basic, no tea/coffee facilities, and the first night there wasn't even a glass for water.||||Breakfast is served between 7am and 10am, and if you can get over the noise of other guests slamming doors and rolling cases across the tiled floor from around 5am, in the light of day, the place isn't bad.||||Breakfast is fine and included. Coffee is fresh and reasonable. Overall, despite being a little daunting in the dead of night, it's not a bad cheap hotel, and to be fair, in the daylight, there is a quite large sign, but it's not illuminated and it's around the corner.||||Saturday night was a bit different as there is a loud disco either in the restaurant or very near by and once that stops, the other guests and case wheeling starts up again.||||All in all though, no complaints. If you're paying for the Hilton, expect the Hilton. If you've gone budget, you shouldn't be expecting room service.||||One irritation, and it's Romania in general not just this hotel, is that smoking is widespread, inside and out. Even though the bedding was laundered, I could still smell the smoke from previous guests. This is a common theme throughout Romanian and Bulgarian society. A separation of smoking/non-smoking rooms would be a huge improvement. Restaurants, bars, taxis, the airport, you can't go anywhere without breathing in everyones smoke. Conditii EXECRABILE si atitudine de 2 lei, nu de valoarea pe care am platit-o! Ne-am cazat pentru o noapte pe 29.12.2024, venind special pentru targul de Craciun de la o distanta de aprox 250 km de Craiova. Am facut rezervarea telefonic cu o saptamana inainte si am sunat cu o zi inainte pentru confirmarea sosirii, asa cum am agreat cu persoana de la receptie. In ambele discutii telefonice am specificat ca suntem 2 adulti, un bebelus si un copil foarte mic, motiv pentru care am solicitat camera cu 2 paturi duble. Ni s-a confirmat ca vom primi un "apartament" si am primit camera 14 care era formata din 2 incaperi nedecomandate, avand un pat dublu si 2 paturi single. Am ajuns la cazare in jurul orelor 17:00 si nu mai era timp de cautat altceva si in zona nimic nu era disponibil, asa ca am decis sa ramanem la rezervarea facuta. Conditiile au fost cu mult sub asteptarile unor parinti care au crezut ca vor primi macar ceva decent si curat, avand in vedere ca am tot repetat despre prezenta celor 2 copii foarte mici. Detaliez ce am gasit in "apartament" si pentru confirmarea celor spuse atasez si fotografii. aerul in camera inchis si amestecat cu un soi de odorizant care probabil se dorea sa schimbe ceva, dar sigur schimbarea nu era una in bine; peretii loviti, juliti si murdari (pete evidente de murdarie) in multiple zone cand priveai de jos pana sus; peretele arcadei de la trecerea dintre cele 2 camere era nu numai murdar, ci si efectiv lovit/gaurit de ceva foarte tare in partea de sus(arata de parca se batuse cineva inainte acolo), zidul era crapat/gaurit, vedeti foto; tavanul in ambele camere avea pete semn ca fusese ud de la ploaie ori inundat de ceva de deasupra si acele pete erau fix langa instalatia electrica; in ambele camere era cate un bec, atat, nici macar o aplica/lustra; prizele mizerabile si se miscau din pereti in ambele camere; lenjeriile murdare sau cel putin necuratate corespunzator (ca sa ma exprim decent), in patul dublu era in partea de sus, sub perna o ditamai pata, parea pata uleioasa; paturile/pilotele/chestiile de invelit nici macar nu erau imbracate in cearsafuri si aratau uzate, luceau la colturi de la utilizarea intensiva fara a fi dezinfectate; mobilierul vechi, murdar si lipicios pe exterior(in interior nici nu ne-am uitat), julit si crapat la toate colturile; deasupra celor 2 paturi single era o placa ce voia sa para tablou si care era ciobit in multe locuri, semn ca anterior a cazut probabil, am avut multe emotii legate de siguranta ancorarii acestuia in perete; ferestrele si pervazurile infecte; in incaperea pentru toaleta... toate corpurile sanitare erau vechi si uzate, dar cada era efectiv ruginita la colturi pe exterior si aproape dezasamblata la toate colturile... si numai igienizata nu arata. La orice coltisor si imbinare din baie era igrasie/mucegai/mizerie. In baie era o ferestra mica ce dadea pe o coloana de aerisire sau ceva de genul acesta, oricum nu venea aer curat... cand ne-am cazat am gasit-o deschisa si am lasat-o asa si am iesit in oras, la intoarcere mirosea numai a fum de tigara in baie, miros venit de pe respectiva coloana; Acestea sunt cele mai importante nereguli observate si ne-ar fi placut sa fim informati pentru a putea decide daca acceptam sa platim pentru astfel de conditii sau nu. Am platit 300 lei pentru aceasta noapte si nu s-a pus problema de pret in niciun moment, dar inacceptabil este ca nu am fost informati si ca ne-am bazat pe niste fotografii din alte camere probabil sau din alta "viata" a pensiunii de 3 stele. La alte recenzii proprietarul a raspuns in urma cu fix 2 zile ca unele camere erau renovate si in altele doar ce s-a inceput renovarea. Ei bine, in camera 14 nu s-a facut nimic si e jalnica. Cand am platit i-am spus angajatei de la receptie feedbackul nostru si replica primita a constat in faptul ca nu toate camerele sunt renovate si ca nu ni s-a zis? I-am zis ca nu, ne-a privit urat si atat. Nici macar sa isi ceara scuze, sa empatizeze cumva cu noi, nimic. Incasase deja banii si nu mai...

This is a traditional, family run guest house. Super friendly and welcoming staff and owners...I'm disabled and they put me in a ground floor room, so no stairs to climb. (Be aware of the awkward step down...outside the bedroom door). Good sized room and bathroom...beware, they haven't used non slip tiles on the floor...which seems to be endemic throughout Eastern Europe?

Great little bar/restaurant here and is popular with visitors and locals. Free WiFi, free parking...apparently they have a car park, but I just parked in the street. Not great for TV programmes in English, but the WiFi does give you some options. Good breakfast.
