This hostel has one of the best interiors for a hostel I've ever been in and I've been in a fair few. It's spacious, clean and well just nice! The showers were hot and had good pressure, even the soap at the sinks was a really nice purple liquid one. It has a great kitchen to store groceries in gthe fridge, or make something.||The bed was comfortable. Dorm room very spacious and had large locker that could fit whole pack and day pack, you just add your own lock. Well located, a few blocks from pedestrian mall part of town (and Deva Mall the shopping centre for that matter, you can get hot food such as roast chickens at the supermarket there), the main park with statues almost next door. ||The fortress cable car is just around the corner (although it was not operational). You can walk up to the fort through the nearby park pretty easily. Likewise the train station is about 10 minutes walk where you can also catch buses to Hunedoara for 13 Romanian dollars each way so you can visit Corvin Castle (which costs 50 Romanian to get in by the way). The supermarket that backs onto the train station you can also return your plastic bottles and cans for the 50c Romanian deposit and use the proceeds to stock up on snacks for the long train journey to Bucharest, Brasov or wherever you're off to next. ||The only hurdle I had with the hostel was that you can't checkin until 3pm. My train got there at 12:30 after leaving Brasov at 7am. I walked to the hostel to drop bags off, only to find no one answers the buzzer. It would be nice to be sent the door code when you have booked or better yet let you pay online when you book and get the code. There is a phone number on the door but if you've got money to waste on International roaming well why are you staying at hostels? ||But other than that it was an awesome hostel that I would definitely stay at again. Highly recommend Deva as a must visit...
Read moreGreat hostel. One of the most comfortable I have been in. Definitely more of a luxury hostel than a backpackers. The beds were very comfortable with a shelf a light and a power outlet. The common areas were big and clean, especially loved the kitchen. The location is great close to the citadel, the town center and the train and bus stations. There were only three guests when I was there so it wasn't very social but the potential is there. If you can, I would recommend getting a room with a view of the citadel. On top of being super nice, clean and modern, it is also one of the cheapest place I have been so I 100% recommend...
Read moreLast review for this place is 9 months old so I think update is good idea. I arrived to this place around noon. I had booking for one night. Door was locked and I saw nobody inside. I was ringing the door for 10 minutes but nobody was opening. I called telephone number they sent in booking but number is invalid! This is the same number they have at the door bell, as can be seen on the picture. I had no choice but to find another place to stay. I suspect this place was not operational but was taking...
