IKI Măgura — Hotel in Moeciu de Jos

We had the privilege of visiting Iki to prepare meals for a private retreat, and it was an unforgettable experience. The journey to Magura, winding through the forest and along unpaved roads, led us to one of Romania’s most picturesque villages. Arriving at Iki is equally striking. The property is designed with sustainability in mind, which is evident in every thoughtful detail. Combined with the Japanese minimalist design, the atmosphere feels both tranquil and immersive — as if you’re outdoors, yet comfortably indoors.

The living room is equipped with a top-tier television that only streams one channel: the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.

In terms of cooking, while the kitchen isn’t large, it’s well-equipped, allowing us to create a variety of beautiful dishes for a group of 12.

A delightful surprise was the coffee: Iki serves specialty coffee from Pressco, one of our favorite Romanian roasteries, in custom, high-quality mugs — a sleek and thoughtful touch.

Ultimately, we know that the warmth of the hosts is what makes a place truly special. At Iki, we had the pleasure of meeting Ilie, the administrator, whose friendliness and assistance made our experience even more memorable.

Great experience in a magic place. Everything just seems in the right place at Iki Magura, the views, the interior design, the sauna, the “ciubar”, the “visinata”. Mr Ilie, the handy-man around is very well informed about everything - what mushrooms to eat and not to eat, hiking routes, where to find fresh milk and eggs from the locals and he can even bring that for you. Very kind and talkative! Communication with IKI team is another key aspect to consider: always very informative, transparent, helpful in accommodating special needs. Words cannot describe good enough how you feel at IKI, the mood when you are inside, the clouds, the always changing views, the fresh air. Did I mention that we got specialty coffee on the house? The only thing I would change are the TV sets, you won’t need them, so why bother to keep it inside?! :) Another thing to mention is that you will get addicted to this place and will want to return in every season. O experiență de neuitat la Iki! Am petrecut câteva zile absolut minunate, care ne-au încărcat bateriile. De la arhitectura superbă, interioarele atent gândite și împrejurimile spectaculoase, totul a fost la superlativ. Fiecare colț al locației exprimă pasiune și atenție la detalii. De la lumina naturală care inundă spațiul, până la modul în care fiecare perspectivă este îndreptată spre peisaj – totul este gândit cu o grijă deosebită.

Ilie, gazda noastră, ne-a întâmpinat cu roșii proaspete din grădină, iar produsele locale precum cașul și ouăle ne-au completat perfect șederea. Am avut parte de drumeții, plimbări cu bicicleta și momente de relaxare totală. Peisajul de la Iki este ca un tablou viu, fascinant, pe care nu te poți sătura să-l contempli. Fiecare colț dezvăluie o nouă nuanță, o nouă perspectivă, iar lumina zilei, schimbătoare, îl transformă continuu. Te invită la reflecție și introspecție, aducând cu sine o liniște profundă.

Biblioteca plină de reviste si albume (design, arhitectura, fashion, travel, business, art) a fost o adevărată comoară, iar spațiile comune, precum livingul, zona de foc și sauna, sunt proiectate astfel încât să te simți confortabil și conectat la natură. Fiecare detaliu – de la veselă până la săpunuri și prosoape – a fost ales cu grijă, contribuind la o atmosferă cozy și primitoare.

Există și o zonă de bar, precum și un colț dedicat cu produse alimentare, ideale pentru a-ți completa proviziile pe durata șederii. Bucătăria este complet utilată, iar pentru cei care doresc să exploreze opțiunile din apropiere, câteva restaurante și magazine sunt la îndemână. Cafeaua de specialitate, deosebit de savuroasă, îți aduce un plus de răsfăț în fiecare dimineață.

Arhitectura impresionantă a celor trei volume, așezate pe un soclu supradimensionat și îmbrăcate în lemn, este un model de inspirație pentru sat și localitățile învecinate. Fiecare detaliu reflectă un respect profund față de contextul natural și tradițional al zonei. Integrarea atentă în peisajul montan nu doar completează vizual locul, ci îl îmbogățește, oferind o reinterpretare modernă a locuirii tradiționale.
