We spent one night after 10days trek across Muntii Lotrului and Muntii Sureanu there. Very friendly hotel 5 minutes by walk from the center of town, very friendly personal. I think the price (120RON/1 doubleroom) is equal to quality. We could choose between ** room and * room - the only difference we found in equipment of bathroom - in 3* room there was more modern equipment, but both of them had bath and there was no problem with warm water. The second day we could left our big backpacks at the Reception and visit the town with our cameras only...||Near this hotel there is a typical romanian park with chess tables and some equipment for children - we could find there how Romanians spent their Sunday in the small town :-) Many shops and caffeterias in the center - but raise your head and look above - you will see the typical contrast between quite "luxury" shop on the first floor and old house above.||I can recommend to visit not only the main street of Petrosani but to find the hidden streets and places with romanian architecture. This contrast you can find in every town or city what you visit.||I recommend this hotel to everyone who wants to spend there one night only or stay there for...
Read moreI went to Petrosani city for bussiness. Before I go I made a reservation in hotel Oxygen, but they called me and canceled my reservation because they were awaiting bigger group of people. I didn't fit in. Well I didn't feel bad about it as long as they would give me better alternative. Hotel Petrosani wasn't better alternative. Its shine was lost maybe 20 years ago and now it is just a monument of old times. We were probably the only guests in hotel for over 100 people in late March. The room was cold and furniture could be the same from the grand opening day. I haven't seen such a narrow bed yet. I can't recommend stay in this hotel.... it wasn't our choice number one. It wasn't our choice at all. The breakfast was terrible and order it even more difficult. Young waiter didn't understand...
Read moreI often stayed at Petrosani hotel while traveling in the Jiu valley. It is an old fashioned communist hotel. Nothing has changed much since 1989 apart the restaurant. The bathrooms and elevators are a bit derelict but the atmosphere and the service is friendly. It is a time journey and the location is very convenient. Wifi is not available in the rooms (only in the hall) but it is even worth in modern hotels like Russu. It is very much ok even if new rich local people despise it. Try to avoid the hairdresser, the women in charge...
