Strongly disliked it, couldn't even stay the night, had to move (recommend Hotel Dorna instead). Firstly, the lobby smelt like that chlorinated mold remover and was super humid, as if you were entering an indoor pool. The rooms weren't much better either: the furniture is just old and cracked and the paint chips off and in general, the set up looks cheap -i theorize they edited or photoshopped the room pics on their website. NOT AS GOOD AS IT SEEMS. Personally I didn't like the style of the decoration but you might, just remember that they use the word "vintage" to excuse really old and used furniture. The toiletries in themselves are of the cheapest quality, the hairdryer was basically falling off the wall and the towels were washed so many times, they turned grey. Ew. I would not think to dry my face with that. Couldn't even go out onto the balcony cause there's a notice implying that if you go out, it might collapse under your feet. One of the most unacceptable things is that it didn't have Wi-Fi in every room; for a 4-star hotel, Wi-Fi shouldn't even be negotiable. Overall, EXTREMELY overpriced, I'd say either lower the price or remove 2 stars. I have a lot of experience in hotels, and with most confidence I can say it absolutely did not attain 4 stars. Would...
Read moreExquisite stay at Hotel Carol – Vatra Dornei
We visited Hotel Carol as a couple and were thoroughly impressed by its charm and hospitality. The location is perfect — right in the heart of Vatra Dornei — making it easy to enjoy the surrounding beauty and attractions.
Our room was impeccable: spacious, comfortable, and thoughtfully appointed. Service throughout our stay was excellent, with the staff attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming.
The SPA facilities were a highlight — the Jacuzzi and sauna provided the perfect dose of relaxation after a day exploring the area. The inclusion of single-use slippers was a nice touch, although the bathrobes could be a little larger for added comfort.
Breakfast was generous and tasty, though we would have loved to see more local cheese varieties and regional produce on the table. Also, as coffee lovers, we would have preferred to prepare our own coffee using the machine, rather than requesting refills from the staff.
Overall, Hotel Carol delivers a refined, warm, and memorable experience — an ideal choice for those seeking both comfort and character in Vatra Dornei. We would...
Read moreI went to their restaurant trying to eat something there. Nice place. Pretty interesting dish names with local touch. I ordered this Dornean Entrees Plateau, described as a combination of cold starters consisting of Dornean bacon, Dornean sausage slices, Dornean white cheese and Dornean hard cheese. (in Romanian - urdă and caș)||||I was served with normal supermarket ham instead of local bacon, some ordinary dry salami instead of the local sausages, some ordinary yellow cheese and ordinary cow cheese from Kaufland store over the street instead of authentic local cheese||||When I called the waiter he took away the plate as I complained about the meat starters and he returned with some ordinary bacon and ordinary sausage slices. When I continued to complain about the cheese starters the waiter dared to interrupt me while I was complaining, as he tried to explain that in winter they do not have local cheese. Of course I asked why did he not explain this when I ordered. He became silent he took away the plate, which was never put on the bill or paid. At least they gave me that. One of my top 3 worst restaurant...
