Staybridge Suites St. Petersburg — Hotel in округ Московская застава

Location: Next to Moskovskiye Vorata metro, 20 mins from Nevsky Prospekt||Hotel: One big building, connected to partner Holiday Inn (which has restaurant & bar); children's play area and small shop next to lobby; common washing/drying area||Room: we had one bedroom suite - big bedroom, good sized living with kitchenette ||Positives: big rooms, kitchenette for travelers with kids, nice breakfast; supermarket next door||Negatives: Location isn't super ideal if visiting St. P largely for tourism||Ranking at time of writing: #20 of 443 Hotels in St. Petersburg||||Location - the hotel is 20 mins from Nevsky Prospekt and most other sites which are towards the river. That said it is closer to Peterhof by road. There is a metro station next to the hotel which brings you to Nevksy directly, buses ply on the same route too. There's a supermarket adjoined to the hotel and a few eateries in Holiday Inn and around the metro station. ||||We chose this hotel because we needed bigger space and a kitchenette as we were traveling with our 18 month old; it was FIFA finals weekend (there was a match in St. P when we were there) and most other places were sold out. We were quite happy with the amenities of the hotel including the children's play area and the breakfast. We did have an issue around check-in and the hotel staff was very helpful in resolving it. They had a common washing/drying area which served us well. ||||The bedroom as big, the bathroom too was of decent sized; the living wasn't huge but served purpose with a kitchenette, a table, sofa and a chair. If you are planning on being in St. Petersburg for awhile, and do not mind not being in the center, and are willing to use subways, this is the place for you. The apartments are well appointed with everything you need for cooking. There is a handy pantry near the check-in area, which actually has acceptable grocery items (not all junk), and wine! There are comfortable common areas and they have traveler get-togethers which I did not attend. ||||They supply English Language news pamphlets in the breakfast area every morning. The only real news I got, for a month in Russia. The breakfast is varied and admirable, meats, salmon, fruit, yogurt, eggs. oatmeal etc. American hotel breakfasts are embarrassing by comparison. Pick up some extra yogurt, fruit, or make a sandwich to save for lunch.||||There is a free laundry room, just bring your own soap. Free wifi. There is an indoor passageway from this hotel to the attached Holiday Inn, for restaurants and bar. ||||If you turn right upon leaving the hotel, then right again (or just right if you follow the passageway to the Holiday Inn and exit from there..(nice on cold days), you will quickly reach the Metro and a supermarket. There is also an MTC store, by the subway, where you can purchase a sim card. Staybridge Suites Saint Petersburg is located about 15 km from St. Petersburg International Airport (Pulkovo Airport). It is right next to Moskovskiye Vorota metro station making it very easy to connect to the city. It shares a walkway with another IHG property, Holiday Inn St. Petersburg – Moskovskye Vorota. We stayed here for 2 nights and booked the room using 25,000 IHG Rewards points per night. Based on the price of the hotel, it was an excellent redemption at the time.||||Check-in was quick and we were informed by the front desk clerk of the mandatory registration fee for foreigners.||||Staybridge Suites provides a complimentary breakfast buffet for all guests.
