In summer it is low season the team was kind enough to give an option to chose a room.||We had a very nice and spacious room new the pool area. Huge traditional room on the first floor with huge bathroom.||Very nice comfortable double bed and we had as well at night portable AC so it was nice to sleep. In the room there is portable ice freeze and complementary water. We have asked for extra waters twice in the same day and was not issue at all to replenish.||In Saudi we needed a lot of water.||The pool around evening was perfect with cool temperate and magical view.||On the first day we had included dinner in our rate... Originally a set of homes and shops, this section of the Old Town was converted into a world class hotel that combines tradition with modern luxury.
Although there is no AC (and to be quite honest, it does get stuffy and hot in the summer), the use of traditional methods such as mudbrick and a carefully planned layout to capture the smallest breeze helps maintain interior temperatures throughout the day. Not one drop of concrete has been used, the entire hotel (or close to it) uses mudbrick only, which gives it a feeling that you're walking back into the past, while still being in the present.
This is not a hotel to just sleep and relax in, but an experience and a living museum that lets one live the life of the people of Al Ula as they have lived for thousands of years. In this day and age, modern, hyper luxury hotels have become boring with little discernible difference, but Dar Tantora is an unforgettable experience that will live with me for as long as I live. I stayed twice 3 weeks apart (Al Ula was on the way to and from my destination), the hotel and its staff are that good.
