Villa Mermoz — Hotel in Dakar

You would think that for the price charged at this hotel ($200 for so called junior suite, which is just an extra large room, $100 for regular room) you would be getting some kind luxury amenities, such as pool or a sauna or even a VIEW over the ocean or something. But no. This is a regular HOUSE in the residential area of Mermoz that has been converted to a hotel, but which doesn't even have a sign outside indicating that it is a hotel. Not even the neighbors know that there is a hotel called Villa Mermoz in their neighborhood. Good luck finding it when you are in your taxi. ||||Once you get to this house, a small entrance in a narrow hallway leads the way towards this total rip-off. The breakfast is stale bread, butter and jam, micro-waved crepes, and if you think that ordering an omelette will make a difference, be ready to have the saltiest eggs in your entire life. As to the outdoors area, it is confined to a few tables under a tree, surrounded by big wall. No view. You are literally in someone's backyard. It would be ok if they charged $30 or $40 nights, but not this price.||||The staff is friendly and polite, which makes up for the unsavory experience of having fallen prey to tourist predators, which is what the owners of this place are. As of now, I am actually disputing credit fraud that I suspect was done in this place when I checked out. I really don't trust this people. If they can rip you off like this, god knows what they can do to your credit. ||||If you are willing to pay $100/night or 70 euros a night for a simple room, with no view, in Dakar, please go here and see how it feels to be...

Looking for luxury and amenities, this is not a place for you. But if one is looking for a clean, maintained, homely accommodation..I bet you will not find anything better than this is Dakar. Nicely maintained property, reasonable rates and next to a excellent pizzeria... So what else a tried traveler needs....The owner and host Andre is a very nice person and will personally take care of you...||||Only improvement I recommend is to have little more variety in Breakfast..||||I love staying here and I am surely...

Service apartment in a good residential area, rooms are good and spacious, Jr. Suite is not so comfortable due to it's huge size. AC is at one corner and the bed is on the other corner, TV is having only 15 channels mostly of local channels though TV is not a prime entertainment with decent WiFi in place.

Food there are so many options with lot of restaurants in...
