Sheraton Novi Sad Review
This hotel was truly a breath of fresh air with its exceptional staff, outstanding service, and a beautifully designed suite. After a long year of traveling, Sheraton Novi Sad was the perfect place to close out the year, marking one of my best experiences with Marriott properties. Spending 10 days in Suite 716 made for a truly remarkable stay.
Check-in Experience The check-in process was seamless, and the staff was incredibly pleasant and welcoming, setting the tone for an exceptional stay.
The Suite Suite 716 was spacious, impeccably clean, and offered breathtaking views, especially from the bathtub. Housekeeping was diligent and ensured everything was spotless daily, which elevated the overall experience.
Room Service Room service was outstanding—meals arrived promptly, hot, and freshly prepared, making dining in the suite an absolute pleasure.
Parking Parking, however, was slightly confusing. Initially, I had a space upfront but was later directed to a tilted garage, which posed a challenge for larger vehicles. This could be improved with clearer signage or guidance for guests.
Location The hotel’s location is fantastic—centrally situated, with every taxi driver immediately recognizing it, making transportation stress-free.
Club Lounge The club lounge on the 10th floor was a standout feature. It provided a quiet, beautifully designed space to work, complete with complimentary drinks. It was the perfect retreat after long days.
Gym The gym was state-of-the-art, equipped with high-end Technogym equipment and boasting an incredible view. It was immaculately maintained, making workouts enjoyable and inspiring.
Spa The spa was nothing short of phenomenal. Whether lounging in the hot tub or relaxing in the sauna, the panoramic views made it easy to spend hours unwinding. The spa team was pleasant, though the process for accessing the spa could use some refinement. At times, the keycard was required, while other times, it wasn’t clear where to go. The reception area also felt a bit awkward, as staff seemed unsure how to guide guests to changing rooms. Despite this minor hiccup, the spa experience was exceptional.
As a token of appreciation, I left chocolates for the team, as their hospitality truly made my stay unforgettable.
Overall Experience Having visited seven Sheraton properties and over 30 Marriott properties this year, totaling 98 nights, I can confidently say Sheraton Novi Sad ranks in my top three stays worldwide. Their attention to detail, superior service, and luxurious amenities set a benchmark for others to follow. I’ve encountered disappointing experiences even at some five-star properties, but Sheraton Novi Sad exceeded all expectations. I wholeheartedly recommend this property and look forward to returning...
Read moreReception and restaurant staff are very friendly, but what a disappointment the restaurant was tonight...
Having read the menu, I was quite looking forward to a meal cooked by a chef that has (and I quote) "gathered his vast experience working in 5 star hotels and international Michelin star restaurants", as well as a nice sirloin steak from the Mibrasa oven, extensively advertised on the restaurant's menu..
I first ordered the tomato soup which was VERY nice. So far so good.
But then it started...
My medium sirloin steak came luke warm on a cold plate. Not very Michelin star worthy, but OK. I informed the waitress, who took my steak back to the kitchen, leaving the side dish of broccoli with roasted almonds and green peppercorn sauce on the table. When questioned, the first was taken back to the kitchen as well, the second was left where it was.
After some time, back came the steak and the broccoli. No new, warm peppercorn sauce... To my surprise, it was the very same steak (quite obvious, because I had tasted one piece before), that had clearly simply been put back in the oven. This time, having been cooked/heated twice, it was of course well done and as dry as it can be.
So again, a waiter was called. Informing him that I did not order a reheated, well-done and dry steak, but a warm and medium sirloin steak, he again took the steak back to the kitchen to inform the chef.
Shortly thereafter, the waiter (who was very nice, friendly and professional) came back to inform me that there was no more sirloin steak.
Not his fault, of course, but what kind of (5 star hotel, Michelin star restaurant) chef sends a re-cooked steak back, just because it was the only one left, I wonder...
Apologies were made by the friendly waiter, and back came the menu to choose something else. I decided to simply order the grilled chicken. It would be on the house, as was a second glass of wine. No need, but a nice gesture, I thought.
This dish was good, I must say, but I still don't understand why this class of restaurant / chef serves food on non-preheated plates. The restaurant was on -1, that is why the plate was cold, I was told...
So then came the bill, which showed... a 2,250RSD sirloin steak rather than a 1,450RSD chicken breast. And no, the wine was not charged.
Come on...
I am not writing this review because of an 800RSD difference in the bill, but because of the poor quality of the food served in the Peppermint Restaurant tonight.
Was the chef not here tonight, or did he have an "off" day, I cannot say, but this is...
Read moreI'm not sure why this is a 4-star hotel... and not a 5-star hotel. Yes, of course everything is new and modern (it was only built a couple of years ago) but the staff go out of their way to help... and they're everywhere; always on hand. 24/7.
The bar has a large smoking area (but a pint is expensive at 500 dinar - more than double downtown prices), a separate smoking lounge off reception, good conference facilities... the breakfasts were a little disappointing but food in general was good. It takes 30 minutes to walk downtown (or 5mins / 300 dinar in a taxi), but it's conveniently located for the motorway and elsewhere.
The room was quiet, clean (though housekeeping was rather cursory) and the bed was huge and comfortable. Limited English-language TV channels, if that's a factor. A small balcony provided for late-night smoking opportunities. USB charging ports are fantastic when the travel-adaptor gets left at home... Of course, iron, hair dryer, toiletries, mini bar and safe are all to be expected from a Sheraton. I found the A/C controls hard to get on with, but that's probably just me.
The spa is fantastic with full glass walls overlooking the city (looking down on rush hour traffic as you're relaxing in one of the saunas smacks of schadenfreude, of course!), snow shower, light/soundeffect/water/temperature programmed showers (I quite enjoyed the tropical thunderstorm one but I can imagine the lightening isn't great if you have epilepsy!), jacuzzi, amber wind-down room with heated beds and steam room. Towels, slippers, robes (and even trunks for the forgetful traveller) provided and the changing facilities (with free lockers) were clean and tidy. Oh, did I...
