Reception was nice, but they wouldn't let me check in at 12:00 PM, even though 5 of the 6 beds were free. I also had to ask for everything. I was initially given the smallest room. They gave me a bed with a broken locker. I had to call staff 4 or 5 times. They first looked for the problem with me until I said I'd like a locker. They agreed to this "for now."
But they apologized. The suggestion should have come from the staff. A waste of time.
The pod was very small, just like the tiny room. The mattress had a dip in the middle so that you could feel the floor.
The counter was dirty, but when I complained, they immediately gave me cleaning supplies.
The carpet could be vacuumed more often. The lockers were small. The room was tiny. No window and right next to the reception desk.
I asked one of the employees to please reduce her cell phone volume. The phone rang loudly with every message, and voicemails were played back loudly. However, they responded kindly when I spoke to them. Bathroom outside, only one available at check-in, and these are also used by people from the building. Bathrooms are extremely hot.
A man apparently comes daily and stays longer and longer. The bathrooms are near the entrance gate, the entrance hall is open. I couldn't see a light that came on when the man visited, which is what the review said.
I didn't find it pleasant for a female dorm either.
Kitchen clean, but few dishes and cutlery. Small oven and microwave. Clean refrigerator. Free coffee and water. Shower gel & shampoo + towels.
After two days, I moved to a deluxe capsule, which was much more spacious. The locker was also larger. The light switch is just poorly positioned; you have to go all the way into the capsule to turn it on. There's a bar above the hostel. The headphones in the capsule are too narrow, and you can't sleep in them if you're a side sleeper. But it didn't bother me personally. You don't just hear the bass, you can also feel it.
There are three rooms with beds. I liked the deluxe room. I felt comfortable, even though the mattress had a hollow in it, so you could feel the floor. But there were good shelves.
The bathroom should have a handle inside to open the doors. It was a bit difficult to open the doors after showering.
There are no hooks on the sinks for hanging towels.
The toilet and main room can be accessed with different codes. Reception is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., even though two of the three girls are apparently staying in the deluxe room.
Staff talks about guests.
Only greets people when they're in a good mood.
When I started work, I shuffled into the bathroom with my hood down and a long face.
When I asked for a fresh towel on the last day, I was given an unfriendly look and told that I was checking out today. I argued that I had already been using the towel for four days and it was dirty. She reluctantly gave me one without responding to my thank you. Furthermore, I caught a bad cold. The air conditioning was set to extremely cold in the common room and the rooms. One night I was freezing. The next day, I mentioned that the air conditioning was set to 25°C, which I saw, but the sensor seemed to be defective. I suggested measuring it, as it was impossible. It felt like 12 degrees. The unfriendly of the three ladies then asked me, with a sense of escape, what she should do now, whether I wanted another blanket. I said the system needed to be checked and adjusted, as I wouldn't be in or out of the room all the time. I had to chuckle when another guest asked for another blanket.
The unfriendly employee didn't really listen. I found it increasingly unpleasant because of the staff. That shouldn't happen on a trip. The journey begins with the accommodation. I'm a long-term traveler and just thought "she" still has a lot to learn about how to treat guests. Her attitude is truly irritating.
The towels at the sink could be...
Read more🩵Staff: 10/10. The receptionists ladies were soft-talking and supportive. Elva, Hajar, Ruchelle are the people to talk to if you have any concerns during your stay. 🩵 Duration: I stayed for 4 nights. Everything was nice, perfect and lovely. 😔 The biggest downside is the bar around- they all partied so hard until 3-ish am so for those who are sensitive to sounds or have sleep insomnia, it may get tricky a bit. Howerver, the hostel PROVIDES soundproof earbuds and they work, block 80% of the noise, soft to wear to sleep.
🌷I mean, the price of staying of Clarke Quay is super near tourists' attraction spots so if you're young and you're here for the vibes, this is the place.
🥺If you're staying long and want to change the bedsheet, there's a rule that it must be 2 nights before your leave.
✅Ruchelle (the nice housekeeping lady) GAVE me an extra blanket cuz the air-con been working to its maximum level. ✅Clean towel available upon request. ✅The shower has shower gel but no shampoo. Hairdryers are available. ✅Most loved feature: in the shared dining room, there's free coffee machines. ✅The toilets are outside so it saves you the hassles of...
Read moreI was happy to find a female-only hostel in Singapore at such a convenient location but I do have second thoughts about staying here again.
I stayed in the 16-bed room and I like how the corridor was spacious enough that I could open my luggage without blocking other people's path. The pod itself was fine and they provide you with a blanket & towel, plus the locker was wide enough to fit a cabin luggage.
The common room has a pretty well-equipped kitchen and 4 partitioned workstations. There are 3 shower stalls within the hostel's area but the toilets are across the hall outside and I often had to wait because they're shared with the building management's staffs.
Now the biggest downside is the fact that it's located right under a bar that plays live music until way past midnight. This and the room's practically warm AC made it really difficult to fall asleep.
I also found the staffs kind of unwelcoming as they just stared at me when I came in and waited for me to speak first. Past reviews mentioned how friendly the staffs are though so I suppose this isn't...
