Hotel Avion — Hotel in Bratislava

Me and my partner were very disappointed with our stay at this hotel. There were numerous things either broken or missing in our room. When first arrived at the hotel we noticed that there was no toilet paper and the shower head was broken and not bracketed to the wall. We had to go down to reception and ask for toilet paper and get a replacement shower head which they took from another room. The shower head was only positioned one way so you had to hold it while using and the drain in the shower was also poor. A longer shower meant you was standing in 3 inches of water in the tray. The toilet was also very discoloured at the bottom and the sink was missing a water filter. There was also no hairdryer in the room so my partner had to go down to reception to ask for one. ||The room has a smoke detector but it was covered with tape , someone who had stayed in the room previously had clearly wanted to smoke. We told the receptionist but nothing was done. The fridge in the room was extremely loud and kept us awake at night. ||The beds were comfortable but they did not have proper mattresses on. They looked like cushions from a sofa or sunbed and the sheets covering the bed were not big enough. The housekeeper/cleaner never came to our room. She tried on two occasions but we were still sleeping. She didn’t knock when trying to enter or communicate with us. She didn’t come back later in the day or another time which meant that for 5 days we had no cleaner.||Lastly the walls were so thin that we could hear the people next to us and all their conversations. We stayed at Hotel Avion for 7 nights in June 2019...... From reading the reviews we were a bit concerned as it doesn’t make for great reading. We were in Bratislava for the Karate World Championships and luckily didn’t have to spend much time at the hotel.||The hotel was cheaply priced and I totally understand that “you get what you pay for”, however, a lot of the facilities listed on Booking.com etc aren’t actually true.||For 4 of the days that we were there, the lift didn’t work (and when family rooms seem to be on the 4th floor, this isn’t great). From reading previous reviews, it seems like a regular thing?||The “24 hour” bar closed at 10pm each night and you could buy a can of beer from reception after that!||One night, the restaurant would not offer food and it was only 8:15pm. The chef told us he was going home (even though someone in our party had pre-paid for their meals).||The rooms had no air conditioning (which in fairness wasn’t advertised), but there wasn’t even a fan. We did ask for one and later that day they provided us with one. There was no real kitchen facilities other than a kettle and a fridge (despite advertising a microwave etc) either.||Overall, it is extremely dated and basic.||I would say the only real positive was the service of the reception staff who were very apologetic and tried their best to do what they can with a number of issues.||We were in a large party that had 6 rooms in total and every one of us had the same issues.||I think the hotel just needs a complete overhaul or the advertising updating to show...
