Barbakan — Hotel in Levoča

We were on an extended trip visiting several Countries, we decided to spend a couple of nights in Levoca, we hadn't booked a hotel but did look some up before we arrived and this looked lovely, what a let down, we booked a more expensive room and to be honest it looked charming etc but that was it. The good thing was free parking behind the hotel. Also the restaurant food was very good. The room however left a lot to be desired, it was spacious, olde worlde. The TV did not work and only one socket out of 4 worked, probably why the tv did not work. These days you need the sockets to charge things. I tried to move the bedside table to see if there was a socket behind only to find it was screwed to the floor! on inspection both bedside tables and indeed the bed were all screwed to the floor, how bizarre. The worst thing though was the bathroom. If you want to have a bath with someone elses pubic hair still in place, and we are not talking the odd one or two, this person was moulting, this is the hotel for you. Being English I did not complain I thought maybe it would be cleaned while we were out, but no. Someone booked in next door and everytime they turned the hot water tap on our pipes started banging and rattling. Breakfast was ok but a bit restricted, only one glass of orange juice allowed and lots of notices saying food must not be taken by the guests. We travel a lot, but we never met such unpleasant hotel owners. We came to the hotel and said hello, but nobody answered. There was one girl at reception, but she looked like she does not see us. After a few minutes came other women, say no hello, and just asked for the passports. We put them to the reception desk and wait. She did not take our ID cards, she set at the computer and solved another passports and let us wait without any word. We were tired and wanted to go to the room so we asked for the keys. She gave us a room on the 3rd floor so we asked if there is a lift, she said there can not be a lift because it is a historic building. I understand why there is no lift, but don't understand why they are not helpful to bring the luggage to the room.|The room smelled of cigarettes, was dusty, non-functional light in the corridor, and an offline fridge with a warm sect :-). The door to the shower was only for small people. When we asked if they have a room with a shower where my partner "fit in", we get no answer. We went for a walk and when we came back to the hotel the owners waited for us and told us that if we don't like it they give us the money back and we can find another accommodation. Alors évidemment, c'est un 3 étoiles, et clairement pas 4, aussi un peu d'indulgence s'impose. Bon, mais quand même. Ca faisait une paire d'années que je n'avais dormi sur des planches. Imaginez un genre de canapé qu'on retrouvait dans tous les apparts à l'époque communiste, canapé convertible 1-2-3 en lit, pour les invités inopinés qui ne pouvaient rentrer à cause du couvre feux. Imaginez donc des planches en contre-plaqué, avec 10 cm de mousse pour faire semblant confort. Ben c'est sur ça que j'ai dormi.||||Globalement la chambre faisait (très) "usée". Les tapis d'avant-guerre pourraient être retirés sans vraiment faire pleurer les enfants, et les meubles pourraient recevoir quelques clous et tours de vis. Ceci-dit tout était propre impeccable, la literie comme les serviettes. Notez que le parking (gratuit) fut extrêmement étroit pour une berline standard (VW Passat) et de nombreux coups de volant me furent nécessaires pour garer mon carrosse. Conducteurs débutants s'abstenir.||||Bien que le WiFi était annoncé dans toutes les chambres, curieusement la nôtre n'en disposait pas (signal trop court). Certes, si c'est pour le loisir, hein, bon, mais moi, j'en avais besoin pour raison professionnelle et j'avais choisi cet hôtel à cet effet. J'ai terminé dans le café au rez-de-chaussée, puis sur les escaliers après 22h, une fois le café fermé. Ca me fout en rogne terrible ça, quand ils annoncent Internet, mais une fois sur place keud. Et l'hôtel était plein, donc impossible de changer de chambre.||||Et dernier point des plus regrettables, le petit déjeuner était en supplément (5 EUR/personne), et lorsque nous sommes arrivés 1h après l'ouverture des hostilités (7h du matin), il n'y avait pas tout de ce qu'il y avait avant. En particulier les oeufs brouillés. Une fois mangés, ben y a plus. Les jus d'oranges étaient présentés en verre (en non en carafe), et lorsqu'ils disparaissent, ça prenait un certain temps afin que 2 ou 3 autres verres ne réapparaissaient (et pas 5 ou 10, des verres, non, 2 ou 3). C'est navrant et mesquin comme attitude.||||Nous avions la chambre 104.||||Les plus:||- Hyper central (à 50 m de la place).||- Baignoire d'angle spacieuse et neuve (comme la SDB d'ailleurs).||- Un parquet, et pas une moquette (malheureusement avec de vieux tapis).||- Calme autant dehors que dedans.||- Personnel sympathique et affable (encore que pas partout).||- Parking gratuit (mais limité en places et manoeuvres aux forceps).||- TV et canaux corrects mais analogiques.||||Les moins:||- Literie catastrophique, mais propre cependant.||- Vieux tapis de la dynastie Ali-Baba sur le parquet.||- Pas de fixation pour accrocher le pommeau de douche au mur.||- Petit déjeuner moyen, sur le principe "le premier qui arrive bouffe tout" (alors que le dernier paye pareil, en supplément).||- Pas d'Internet dans la...
