Pension Chopok Apartments — Hotel in Liptovský Mikuláš

Well, I was in expectations of finding modern rooms with comfortable beds to sleep from both pictures and reviews. However I am very disappointed with the reality. Our room’s furniture (maybe only ours? Room number 8) feels like from 15-20 years ago. Matresses are not comfortable, bed makes noise even from little 22 month-old baby’s movement. There are carpets in two rooms. Either carpets or furniture has some specific heavy smell which the host is trying to cover it with room spray. However room spray’s fragrant is also disturbing my sensitive nose. Only bathroom is renovated, but the rest is from 2000s. Overall, the price-performance ratio is acceptable compared to competitors, however as I said, I was expecting differently…

What are the good things?

The hall inside the building is nicely decorated as well as the outdoor private garden is looking very beautiful. It’s nice for kids to play, to have barbecue or just to listen and relax with the little river-stream. There are only 8 rooms, so if your neighbors are quiet, you have your peace in your room. I haven’t communicated with the owner lady, but as I learnt from my partner, she is kind and helpful person.

3 night stay in February 2016 - group 3 friends.|8 rooms in a small apartment building - finished to a excellent standard with on site parking.|The bits you need to know: |5 miles from Jasna so you do need a hire car or catch the ski shuttle which doesn't run for 3 hours in the middle of the day.|Ring in advance as no on-site check in and wasn't emailed with procedure resulting in a 1-hour wait on arrival.|Good shower and small kitchenette comprising fridge/microwave/hob. No kettle or toaster though - which we considered more essential. Hot shower!|Boot room limited capacity and not really warm enough to dry boots overnight. It is alarmed though!|The owner speaks Slovakian and German but not English. He is really friendly though (fortunately I speak German too) Cash only payable during your stay.|Local restaurants limited but there is an excellent pizza delivery in Liptovský Mikuláš - Google "Pizza Huricán". This is a wonderful property. It is new and spotless as of my stay in May 2014. It is in a silent spot with almost zero road noise. The shower has immediate hot water without fluctuating and the pressure is incredible. The bed is two singles put together which is a bummer but they are comfortable.The wifi is strong and fast. A small park with a nice stream running through it are outside the front door, and include a wood fired grill and lounge chairs for enjoying the nature, as well as a play area for children. There is no restaurant in the penzion but there is a nice one in the penzion next door, though it was a little too fancy and expensive for my tastes. The owner of the penzion does not speak English, though he does speak about ten other languages and tries his best to help you. He doesn't live in the penzion so you have to tell him ahead of time when you will arrive or call him when you do arrive. I recommend staying here. The area plus this penzion make for an enjoyable experience. Slovakia is as beautiful as Germany but...
