Guest House Pikapolonca — Hotel in Maribor

Wish I could give the place a zero rating, but google is too kind, hence the 1. The place is a horror show. The whole place stinks. The reception looked like some drying room with towels, sheets etc hung to dry. It looked like it hasn't been cleaned in years. The lady at the reception, who I guess is the owner as well took 30 minutes to check us in. I am not kidding and it was just two of us. All this while she was watching TV and chatting with other shady people walking in and out of the establishment. The room as expected after the initial ordeal was horrible. It smelled so bad, that I felt like puking. The guy who was supposedly cleaning the room for us, was like watching a movie villain come to life. He tried putting on a pillow cover and on realizing it was the wrong one, tore it off in disgust in front of us. After all this we didn't have the courage to even check the shared bathroom. We ran away from the place as soon as we could and booked another place in Maribor. I know the place is cheap, but seriously don't make the mistake of booking it. I also request the authorities in Maribor to do a safety and cleanliness check on the place. It was the worst hotel...

Very rude staff, I emailed the property on the booking app and said I was going to arrive around 10am, I arrived around 10:30am, the gentleman who was in a very messy room that looks like kitchen or so did not allow me to check in said that I needed to check in after 4pm, did not allow me to leave my luggage, so I said I would not stay there and he did not wanted to cancel my reservation as I did not have to the option to free cancellation. I had to find another place to stay which I was treated well. So it was very bad experience and even decided to cut short the time I had planned to stay in Maribor. Apartment was nice, lots of beds and a kitchen however the host was the most unwelcoming host I've ever had. We called ahead to inform them of our later than expected arrival due to a late bus and they treated us like intruders. Shouting at us to get inside after they eventually gave us the key, not allowing us to have a cigarette, cutting me off when I tried to ask about whether we could let ourselves in or not. We felt like school children getting in trouble for smoking outside the building. Then this morning a staff member called to our door 3 times before our check out time demanding that we left, even walking into the apartment unannounced while one of us was in the shower.
