The guest house is lovely but the SERVICE is horrible!!!
You can't take the keys with you when you go into shops - security reasons (Wonder why you pay for a room for 3 days but each time you go out you need to go request for the key) one night I came back the guy couldn't find my room key, he searched and searched eventually took out spare keys the remembered the key is there.
I was being dropped off around 10 - while I was gathering my stuff to exit the car (The engine was running) the security came and told the driver you can't park here - my driver said I'm not parking I'm dropping her off, security insisted that we can't park where we are, driver asked if he can't see that this is just a drop off then words kept on being exchanged which the security ended up using swearing words.
Room service came through my room around 11. So I went to wait outside while she cleaned. The weather was not child friendly but I waited thinking its going to take a couple of minutes as the room wasn't that big at all. 20min went by the lady was still cleaning the cubicle of a bathroom like literally that bathroom is half the size of my bathroom back at home but somehow she managed to spring clean it for 20min. With me unable to bare the cold anymore I went to sit into the room. She politely asked me to wait outside as they are not allowed to clean while guests are present (Okay I understand you were cleaning but why isn't the guest allowed to be in the room? Most places you don't even see the housekeeping ladies but not Oria they ask you to stand outside) so I told her I can't any longer it's cold. With lots of anger she went to call her boss who came to ask me to STAND outside. Like what the hell? I honestly felt like they were doing me a favor by accommodating me more like I didn't pay for my stat.
I only chose to have breakfast on my check out date lucky for me!! As I set there enjoying the two people behind me a housekeeper and a gentleman I don't understand his role and duty there were arguing about how rooms needs to be checked how many spoons needs to be counted and so forth, now ordinarily there was nothing wrong with their conversation BUT they weren't really discreet hence they weren't using social language the lady had to remind them that there's a guest sitting here so they need to tone it down a notch... Where? They attached her instead!! Asking her if they can't talk anymore cause there's a guest, nice lady tried to explain why she's saying they need to at least wait for me to go to continue with their conversation but the guy insisted that he is correcting the other lady of the wrongs going on in the guest house. All this I could hear.
As if all of the above wasn't enough... I was still having my breakfast as the other lady started to swip the floors, I can't ever imagine someone swipping the floors while the other person is eating even at home let alone in a guest house!! I've had had enough of asking questions and complaining so I just watched and kept my peace.
The young lady at reception was the ONLY sane person with good service and excellent service she knew how to take care of guests. Hence why I had to rethink of rating that guest house. But it's only fare people know and I was not the only guests who had problems one gentleman came to complain about his breakfast being thrown away while he has paid for it, this happened while I was sitting there waiting for my pick up.
Oria Guest House staff need to go...
Read moreArriving at the lodge we were greeted with a warm welcome from the security that led us to the reception. Were I met Cedric. That I found out later is my angel in disguise. After booking in we were taken to our rooms. Which was very clean and tidy. And everything was in in order. The bathroom was very clean which we really appreciated alot and was told if you need anything just ask. As we got ready for our function the straps of my dress was too long and cedrick gave us safety pins which didn't work then fetched needle and thread he was an angel if he didn't come to the rescue it would've been a flop, he even fixed my husband's tie. When we left we were wished a great evening ,and so it was. Upon arrival back at the lodge once again we were greeted so warmly and with friendlyness. It felt like we were coming home. The security was so nice that time of night. I also loved the idea that nobody can enter without passing the security . No smoking is allowed in the rooms, and we had our tea and siggie on this cute little Bench out side our room. Which turned into a great ending of the night. The next morning we were greeted warmly again had an awesome breakfast. Back in our rooms we were packing up getting ready to leave. I felt sad because I fully enjoyed my stay and the helpfulness the friendlyness and the clean yard and rooms. The manager gave us a farewell that just wanted us to stay. One thing I can say is that we will be going back ,no doubt about it. I loved every minute of...

1.Upon arrival they didn't let us know they had renovations going on. EARLY MORNING WE GET WOKEN UP BY WORKERS BUIKDING AND HAMMERING...
The bedding when opening sheets was still dirty.
When we opened the fridge it still smelled like old food (probably the previous guests food's smell.)
The staff have no people skills.
Whilst still waking up housekeeping pops her head in "Can I clean the room?" Uhm NO you may not I am still in pajamas.
Only 1 window. No other ventilation.
COLD SHOWER
Broken taps.
The kettle had to be moved to the floor to boil.
We paid R1400 for 2 nights and to ADD a bed per night is R250. If you want to be in a smoking room it's R500 EXTRA.
For the amount paid for a 1 Star rated lodge which by the way IT IS NOT. I am appauled by the service and facilities.
Will never...
