We (2 adults & 2 children 8 &16) have climbed our way around here about 4 times or so and have always had a great time. The only negative is ones body - legs & arms that call it quits depending on how fit & strong you are. The place is massive and has varying levels depending on your skillset & fitness & a great beginners / children's section where you can find your feet & test your free hand skills with a big mat to jump or fall onto if necessary. Being a large warehouse there are climbs of many storey's high and you can really test your fear of heights, faith in the automatic safety ropes when having to release and abseil down.

The food bar was well prices with a good variety of snacks, energy boosters & lite meals - Food & coffee was not bad at all.

The staff are enthusiastic & helpful & really look to love their jobs.

If you have ever wanted to scale a building like Spiderman & friends, climb a tree or rock, test your fear of heights, upper & lower body strength, just have a some good old fun or witness your family or friends testing their skills or overcoming their fears this is the ideal SAFE space to make it happen.

They also have a gym for members, change rooms & a shop if I'm correct so the least you can do is go take a squize.

For us the visits have been a great way to see our children's & own skills develop, have a good laugh at each other, solidify some good healthy family time all in a no rush, no fuss environment given you have as many hours as you can get the body to cooperate or watch others attempt to do so. 😊👌👍

Funny I never thought I would drwa to rock climbing when we 1st brought our children here but having given it a bash I look forward to the next visit. Even my wife who only took the climbing on during our last visit left tired, satisfied & grinning...

First time climbing at CityROCK and it was an absolute blast. Of course we were feeling all kinds of excited and intimidated.

Complete your indemnity forms on the tablets available at the door. You can purchase a day pass that includes the rental fee for climbing shoes (remember to bring socks) and a climbing harness. Harnesses for lush bodies are available upon request - these are way more comfortable than the strap harnesses and come with lots of extra padding. Lockers and pad locks are provided for your belongings.

The guide took us through a comprehensive tour of each of the areas and explained how the self climbing rigs worked. This means you can climb without the assistance of a human counterweight at certain walls - these are marked with large yellow flags.

The briefing was thorough and I felt confident and safe when he left us to our adventuring. Colour coded grips determine the complexity of your climb and each wall felt like a new challenge.

The hardest part was letting go and gliding down, but after the first few descents it was easy to overcome.

The guides are visibly keeping an eye on things, walking around and checking in but mostly left us to it - which I loved.

The climbs are relatively easy if you stick to the colour coded grips for beginners.

Liquid chalk is available at the store. Great coffee and snacks are available at the Vida located inside CR.

My two granddaughters went to City Rock in Observatory once a week and were looking forward to the big new premises in Paarden Eiland. When we entered for the first time today my 10 year old granddaughter's first words were "awesome" and she was very excited. That excitement unfortunately was short lived because while she was following her 17 year old cousin around, as she usually does, and doing some bouldering, we were told that under 16 year olds are not allowed to use the same climbing and bouldering structures because of safety. My argument was that she is never unaccompanied, either her mother or I are always supervising her. We were then shown an area specially set aside for little kids which isn't completed yet. This, after taking full payment and failing to advice on entry. My granddaughter is heartbroken that her favourite outing of the week with her big cousin has been spoiled and doesn't want to return. My daughter asked for a refund and received it. The place is perfect for my older grandaughter but definitely not for...

Best indoor rock climbing venue in Cape Town. They offer top rope, leading, bouldering, speed climbing, yoga, gym equipment, super clean restrooms with showers, studio, gear shop and a cafe. They really do offer a lot in one location. You may visit the gear shop for free. There is a day pass to access the climbing and other facilities. It is around R150 for an adult day pass (which lasts a day) and they do close late at night. Shoes and harness is around R90 and if you get one or another it’s R60. It is a worthwhile experience. It’s best to climb with a bunch of friends and I highly recommend finding someone that knows how to belay. There are auto belays available so you won’t need an experienced climber to assist you but it is recommended. Bouldering is open to everyone. Lots of new routes available. They are updated regularly. Super fun and enjoyable. Definite recommend.
