Very terrible experience I have received from karoo park guest lodge this place does not even deserve a half star rating. On the 2022-12-13 I arrived at the guest lodge at 12am and the owner tells me they are fully booked I traveled for 17 hours from KZN to the city and paid well in advance and I told Xandre I will be arriving at 12am and she booked accordingly and told me I must message her an hour in advance and she will send me a video of where the keys will be. This guest lodge doesn't not know how to do proper reservation and just books anyone to scam customers and they are not cheap, I had to stay with a friend and sleep on the floor with my family at the same guest lodge, the owner told me he'll give me a refund cause I didn't not occupy the room and took my banking details but up till today I'm still waiting for my money I paid R1700 for just one night, they ignore my emails and whatsapp messages, they are a total scam utter disgraceful service and high racism, the rooms are so untidy, they give you water from the Jojo tanks to bath with. I do not recommend this place to anyone who visits the city of Graaff-Reinet for December or any part of the year, terrible welcome from the owner they are rude and arrogant and heartless towards customers they have no way of talking to guests, they tell me they do not have any records on their system lucky I still have my proof of payment and produced and the owner was just looking at it stunned and...
Read moreExcellent experience! For an extra R100 compared to its neighbors, this is the one to stop at, the entrance waiting room resembles a library and after dinner aperitif area, great to just relax in, much like the full bar in a 19th century style has charm and is quite hospitable, old school refinery. There are cottages surrounding the pool area, and in front more traditional 'stoop facing the street' accommodation. lovely! The rooms are huge with high ceilings, antique furniture and very clean. All the usual amenities are available Tv, electric blanket, kettle etc. The restaurant is a la carte and resembles fine dinning without the shirt and tie, or having to pull her chair out. Try the springbok steak or ask for a group set menu, great after an excursion to the national parks treasured view two roads up. Plenty secure parking for your vehicle, whatever the size. Oh and very hospitable, ask the owner about the areas history... Very interesting just like the building built in 1818. I'll be back...
Read moreSadly Karoopark Guest House failed to live up to expectations. We stayed in room 9 which was looking rather tired and neglected in several areas. Facilities in the bathroom lacked a storage shelf in the shower and generally could do with being upgraded. Room had no blackout curtains, internet was not working so no television, room and sitting area had no form of heating when cold. Housekeeping in our room was very basic consisting of poor make up of bed, no washing of cups or glasses after making drinks.|Generally staff were very good - owners failed to show any interest in guests unless you were in a large party booking. Booked a Township Tour in advance however our tour was nothing like that advertised - disappointing. However our guide...
