Madeliefie Guest Accommodation — Hotel in Drakenstein Local Municipality

On arrival, no welcome from the owners. They sent their worker out with the keys. The worker also collected the keys when we checked out. I asked her if she wanted to check the room because I took photos of the room just before we left. She said, no. We left the room neat and tidy. The room was neat and clean on arrival. The bed was not very comfortable. However, because of the location and neatness of the rooms my family wanted to book out the whole place for a week. Unfortunately, I received a very disturbing call from Minette who wanted me to bring back her practically empty plastic lotion bottle. We did not use their shampoo or the body wash and left the full bottles there because we had our own. However, we used up most of the lotion because we forgot to pack ours in and because this little plastic bottle was nearly empty, I thought I will take the little that was left and use it. In all my years of travel, I have never been asked to return a practically empty container. We would have turned back but since I was halfway into Cape Town from Paarl already we decided that this was ridiculous. An empty plastic container! Really!!!! I am not sure who Minette and Willie are but I am glad she called about her empty plastic bottle before we booked out their whole place for a week as planned. She was also not friendly about it when she called and sounded quite annoyed and irritated. This is quite disgusting and disturbingly disrespectful and left a very bad after taste. If this is how they treat guests then I would suggest you stay away from this place. My family stayed in another accommodation close by and had a truly happy and joyous experience. There are enough places in Paarl to stay and have a better experience. Choose positive attitudes. I can see there are ime good reviews for this place. November 2017 was a significant time as my then fiancé now husband and I flew to Cape Town to announce our engagement . We had an evening scheduled to stay in Paarl for a job opportunity my husband ventured into. We were in Johannesburg at the time while browsing through options . Searching for a place to stay now couldn't be any easier after discovering Madeliefie. We booked our stay well in advance and it was absolutely worth securing an evening at the guest house . Unfortunately we cant fit a travel experience in our schedule soon however we would love to shower our family and friends for a stay there instead. Minette our host was hospitable as well as the young lady that assisted the morning of our breakfast . The setting was opulent ,the room was well maintained including the vintage decor.The window shutters added to the ambiance. The detail in the room was exquisite .The home dog was so adorable . The functionality of the room design and options availed to you is well thought out. Minette gave personal recommendations for dinner options in the area . We tried a Bistro she recommended it was lovely and wait for it......affordable! These are the experiences that appreciates the value you spend and work...

This is my second visit to Madeliefie and I could not be happier. Minette and Willie are superb hosts, friendly, helpful, kind and ensure that your stay with them will be exceptional. They know so much about the area, can recommend wineries, restaurants and things to see and do. The accommodation is wonderful. Beautiful tastefully decorated rooms that are spacious and so comfortable. Cleanliness is exceptional and so many nice touches such as cable TV, tea and coffee and home made rusks. We can't wait to...
