Very bad holiday experience!!!!
My husband and I had not taken a vacation for the last few years. As such we decided to head to Port Elizabeth and stay at the Isango Gate Boutique hotel for a week to have a good rest. Based on the Isango Gate Boutique Hotel advertisement it seemed to be an amazing place to stay and relax which we really looked forward to. However, to our disappointment when we arrived and approached the building we noticed that the outer building definitely did not resemble the beautiful photos we had seen online. The place is tired and in dire need of maintenance and could do with a good paint and fixing of the cracked walls. On the inside of the building the walls are damp, there is peeling paint, dirty stained carpets and rusty fixtures. We also encountered a broken window in the room we slept in which we thankfully managed to close so no mosquitos could enter.
Upon check in we encountered the first issue: the receptionist advised that the TV in the room we were meant to stay in had a technical issue and asked if we would be fine with it since a technician would come over the next day to fix it. When we entered the room it was smelling and we were told that the carpet was only deep cleaned a day before even though we had asked a week before check in to ensure that the carpet is deep cleaned before we arrive.
The bottled water we received had a bad taste, as if it had stood in the sun all day.
The staff is unprofessional and not trained. We made use of the Do Not Disturb sign on the door and on two occasions we were interrupted. On the one occasion we were in the shower and had to shout from the shower that we could not attend to the door and that no staff member should enter as we were busy. On the second occasion we placed the Do Not Disturb sign on the door and decided to quickly head down for breakfast and then return to the room. When we returned we found room service cleaning the room even though we had a Do Not Disturb sign on the door.
There is a student accommodation building right opposite the Isango Gate Boutique hotel. The students are loud, shouting and partying from early morning till late at night. We were woken up around 7.30am in the morning with loud music. When I called reception to ask where the loud music was coming from so early in the morning she advised that it was coming from the student accommodation. She also advised this was an issue they were facing and when they ask the students to turn down their music they do not listen.
We were also looking forward to spending time in the beautiful pool we had seen in online in the hotel advertisement. Again to our disappointment the pool was dirty and we ended up not using it.
After encountering all these issues my husband sent management an official email which was ignored. The operations manager who was onsite when receiving the email did not seem to be bothered about our complaint and did not respond to our complaints or apologize. We then asked reception to please ask management to get back to us regarding our complaints and to date we are still waiting for a response. We decided to cut our stay short and head home.
What a bad experience, I will never return again!!!
This is not a boutique hotel and not worthy to be rated as a 4...
Read moreI am so disgusted by this hotel. They made a double booking for venue hiring where there was 2 baby showers taking place at the same time. We could not hear a thing that was being said Because the other group was was playing loud music and being rude. All in all there was a superior and inferior baby shower between the 2 and my one was designed by the hotel to be inferior as we were placed in a small hidden corner yet we were the ones who made the first booking. When I called the manager she never bothered to come, I confronted her before I left about their incompetence. She took no accountability whatsoever but instead blames her staff. When I said to her I am never coming back here she just said “okay no problem.” So I urge people to be careful before paying this hotel because they are not very organised and are greedy because their venue is not designed to host more than 1 event at a time. As long as you pay them, they don’t care about you.
And by the way miss manager, you are not a 5 star hotel if you were you would need to be a 4,5 star and above, you are less which makes...
Read moreWe were here in March for an weekend. Advertisement photos and details are misleading. 99% of staff are rude and unfriendly and lack people communication skills. Food misleading prices including the photos. Food portion very minimal and overpriced. Have to buy vegetable and salads as separate side dish prices to add to already overpriced tiny pieces of meat. Then waitress is pushy and rude for her gratutuity tip and has an flithy aggrogant attitude in bad mouthing you by other when you ask for your change after gratuity tip and meals were paid. Dishonesty waitresses. No bar fridge was present in the room as presented on day of prebooking. Had to request for one. Old building and needs an revamp. TV channels not much to be entertained with. Guest motor vehicles not safe with parking lot gates open all day until 20h00/21h00 at night. No sun loungers anymore. Had to bring our own. Only enjoyment was our swimming in clean pool and buffet breakfast included. Not worth the price. Not...
