My visit to this restaurant was, without question, the worst dining experience I have ever had. If it were possible to rate them below zero, I would, based on the appalling quality of their food, the utter lack of customer service, the blatant misrepresentation of their ingredients, and their audacity to treat a paying customer as if I were at fault for expecting a basic standard of dining.

As a habit, I order fish and chips when visiting coastal towns. Two weeks prior, in Cape Town, I enjoyed some of the freshest and most enjoyable fish & chips at Kalky’s, setting a clear benchmark for quality.

At this restaurant, I specifically asked the waiter twice about the freshness of their fish. He assured me it was delivered daily from the harbor. Relying on that assurance, my wife and I ordered fish and chips. The result was disastrous. The chips were clearly frozen, stale, and past their prime. The fish itself was watery, suggesting it had been frozen and improperly stored for an extended period.

Requesting to speak to a manager, a young man appeared, visibly uncomfortable, attempting to defend the inexcusable. By this point, my children had already begun eating their meals, and the lack of quality was immediately evident across the board. My daughter’s pizza cheese was streakless and unappetizing, the ham filling watery, and the dough old. My son and other daughter’s burgers were unrecognizable, with patties that were far removed from what one expects of fresh beef. I politely declined a portion of my daughter’s burger because of my suspicions, and it became clear later that the food was indeed unsafe when all of my children suffered gastrointestinal distress on our journey back to Pretoria.

The service compounded the ordeal. When requesting the bill, our waiter’s hostility was palpable, directed at the paying customer rather than addressing the failings experienced. As we left, the staff’s stares confirmed a blatant indifference to our experience.

This restaurant fails in every conceivable area, food safety, quality, honesty, and service. I cannot stress enough that this is not merely a bad meal, it is a health risk and a disgrace to any standard of hospitality. Avoid...

Something Good Roadhouse is a true gem along the Port Elizabeth coastline, offering a unique blend of retro charm, delicious food, and a relaxed atmosphere that makes it a must-visit spot.

The first thing that struck me was the nostalgic, classic roadhouse vibe. The decor perfectly captures that retro feel, with a fun and laid-back ambiance that immediately puts you at ease. Whether you choose to sit inside, outside on the deck, or in your car for a traditional roadhouse experience, you’re in for a treat.

The menu at Something Good Roadhouse is extensive, catering to a wide range of tastes. From burgers and pizzas to seafood and milkshakes, there’s something for everyone. I opted for one of their signature burgers, and it did not disappoint. The patty was juicy, the toppings were fresh, and the portion size was generous. Their milkshakes are also a highlight—creamy, rich, and available in a variety of flavors, they’re the perfect indulgence.

The location is unbeatable, right on the beachfront. Dining with a view of the ocean adds an extra layer of enjoyment to the meal. The outdoor seating area is particularly lovely, offering a great spot to soak in the sea breeze and watch the waves while enjoying your food.

Service at Something Good was prompt and friendly. The staff were attentive without being overbearing, and they made sure our meal was enjoyable from start to finish.

One of the best aspects of Something Good Roadhouse is its versatility. It’s the kind of place that works for a quick bite, a leisurely meal with friends, or even just a stop for a coffee or ice cream while out on a walk. The relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere makes it welcoming for everyone.

Overall, Something Good Roadhouse lives up to its name. With tasty food, a great location, and a fun, nostalgic vibe, it’s a place I would highly recommend to both locals and visitors looking for a memorable dining experience in...

I recently visited Something Good Roadhouse, and I can confidently say it's one of the best dining spots in Port Elizabeth! The location is perfect, right by the beach, providing stunning views and a relaxing atmosphere.

The menu offers a wide variety of options, from hearty breakfasts to delicious burgers and seafood. I had the classic Roadhouse Burger, and it was cooked to perfection—juicy, flavorful, and complemented by crispy, golden fries. My wife enjoyed the seafood platter, which was fresh and perfectly seasoned.

The service was top-notch. The staff was friendly, attentive, and eager to ensure we had a great experience. Despite being quite busy, our food arrived promptly, and the staff checked in on us regularly to see if we needed anything.

The casual, laid-back vibe makes it an excellent spot for families, friends, or even a solo meal by the sea. There’s also a great selection of drinks and desserts, which we couldn’t resist trying—the milkshakes are a must!

Overall, Something Good Roadhouse offers a fantastic combination of delicious food, excellent service, and a beautiful location. It’s a must-visit if you're in Port Elizabeth. We’ll definitely be...

Location is supposed to be everything, but here they manage to ruin it. The concept is great: beautiful view, ample parking, family friendly. Yet, on a warm 1 May, out of season, it took over an hour for a simple pot of muscles to arrive. The sauce was overly rich, half the muscles had broken shells. We then went over to the take out area for some ice cream. After waiting in a line for nearly 35 min, and this is a line which only had 4 customers ahead of us, we are informed "no, no soft serves today, despite the massive advertisement for soft serve". We choose a regular ice cream flavour (milk tart and tiramisu). The tiramisu tastes exactly like vanilla with some cocoa powder mixed in. The milk tart tastes exactly like, wait for it, vanilla. So if you are coming for the view or have young kids you want to let play, sure this place works. If you want food that is actually palatable and arrives in any reasonable amount of time, go elsewhere. If this is what the service is on a slow day, I cannot imagine how awful it must be in season.

Food is aesthetically appealing. Looks great but so very basic. The flavors are bland. I even told my husband, I could have rather stayed at home and made food rather. The service was extremely slow. The waitor even forgot part of my order and never brought it to me, wasn't on the bill too which was great because their food wasn't appetizing at all. Then, yes, it's nice for the kids but there's a go karts section there where this woman charges R20 for 10 minutes. So the parents get harrased by their kids that they want to go on there. So you land up spending on average R120 for an hour. Absolutely ridiculous really. That's a game changer for me. I will not step foot back there again, unfortunately. You come to have a lovely lunch, without even realizing you have to pay extra for a go kart ride.

Unfortunately this is the second time now that the experience at Something Good has been underwhelming. Last time we were absolutely starving and waited very long for the pizza to arrive only for it to have an uncooked base and upon sending it back the second one was more cooked but unfortunately it had some areas burnt and some areas raw, by that point we decided to eat the pizza as it was. The second time round we waited for long for our drinks to arrive that it seemed that they were attempting to bring the drinks with the food, only for us to find out that they hadn't even started preparing our food yet, and more than half the tables were empty. And it has become so expensive as well making it very difficult to justify choosing something good over something better elsewhere.
