Boer & Brit Self Catering Guesthouse — Hotel in Emnambithi/Ladysmith Local Municipality

My wife Farhana. Son and I booked at Boer & Brit on for the weekend from the 10th December to 12th December 2021. When we where recommended by a friend to book at this place, my wife was not keen on staying there but eventually she came around and confirmed our booking with Bjorn. Although a self catering place and never expected for them have accommodated clean fresh towels as one would know to carry all your essential needs especially booking in a self catering facility. But here we didn't need to use our own towels and the rooms are cleaned and serviced everyday and we were pleasantly pleased for the warm and friendly services rendered. The owner Bjorn was extremely pleasant and welcoming. Our vehicle was parked on the premises and full view of knowing its safe off the road parking was definitely a big plus. We loved the place and enjoyed the pool which was clean and a pleasure just relaxing and enjoying ourselves. It was such a peaceful and calming environment to be at. My son was never bored as he enjoyed swimming so did my wife and the big plus for him was the free wifi offered at the lodge to keep him busy with his social media time we throughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely want to go back. The room 7 that we stayed in was quiet comfortably and spacious, it basically had every item that's required and everything worked perfectly fine. My wife was worried that there was no aircon as she feels extremely hot but she slept comfortably with the ceiling fan in the room and it was a pleasure getting no complaints about feeling hot. We also had good conversations with Bjorn and his daughters are lovely. Thank you Bjorn for making our stay a very pleasant experience even with your sorrow on the loss of your wife you still remained positive and made us feel very happy at your place. Review from Terry Mingay Unfriendly manager/owner?? who was not at all welcoming. No soap/shampoo etc in shower. Old blankets and faded comforters. At least our sheets were new but the overall experience was less than pleasant. Response from the owner 22 minutes ago Unfortunately we have got no record of this person staying with us. PLEASE NOTE - Terry did stay over at Boer and Brit. She and her husband shared a room with us. Yes the linen was old and faded, There were spiderwebs in the bathroom. The blankets on top of the cupboard were dusty. We did not complain as we know it was not a star rated establishment. We did witness the manager/owner being very rude to two other guests. Suddenly their accommodation were costing them more then quoted before. When they questioned it, the owner/manager was rude and disrespectful. This is a very comfortable basic stay... tidy and extremely hospitable well worth the rates charged. The friendliness of the owners are exceptional and they are extremely accommodating and KIND! THAT IS IMPORTANT! OUR highlight was the pool extremely clean and the kids had so much fun. The fact that the kitchen had a stove with oven that worked beautifully made cooking a bliss.
