The staff were extremely unfriendly and bark at their guests and are rude. The appliances in the rooms are not functional i.e. fridges, aircons, and toilets. When asked to utilize the braai area we had to get permission from the owner to use the dedicated area. Furthermore, we were not allowed to utilize their cutlery and crockey, taking into consideration Elizabeth Guest Lodge, Boksburg is not a self catering establishment. One of the guests walked into a closed glass sliding door which (which was barely marked as a warning), causing damage to his nose. The front desk person was more interested in taking temperatures and wearing of masks than blood pouring from the guests nose, their is a non existent first aid kit. No apology from the staff or owner. A R450 penalty for losing a room key??? A R500 penalty for smoking in the room???? We regret paying for the accommodation in advance as they refused to reimburse us as I wanted to check out due to their unprofessional attitude. The owner was quite willing to allow us to leave. In the 15 years that we have traveled and been accommodated Elizabeth Guest Lodge, Boksburg must be the worst establishment we have ever been lodged at . You would think that with the Covid 19 pandemic, business owners would go out of their way to accommodate guests, this is not the case with Elizabeth Lodge Boksburg. The experience they currently offer, guests don't want to return. When asked to put on the pool light we were advised that the area was under maintenance. Nothing that was advertised on the menu was available, I ordered a "gourmet" burger from them during my stay which I paid something like R120 for, I was shocked when my order came and it was a cheap disgusting R15 beef patty on two slices of WHITE BREAD. When I called and asked why I was served on white bread I got told that they don't have rolls so I wanted to send my order back as I think it was ridiculous to pay that amount of money for a meal of that quality, they came and took it back and I still had to pay for it! What a cheek! The staff were all out right rude and absolutely unprofessional, I unfortunately stayed a dreaded 4 days at this place, honestly speaking it was the longest 4 days of my life. The sheets weren't changed everyday, they put soap in my room on the first night and never again, they had empty coffee sachets with a kettle in the room and when I called to ask for a sachet(which should come complimentary at any guest house, I travel alot so stay in loads of places and this was the first place that denied me a sachet of coffee). Read moreIf I could give this place zero stars I would. Straight at check in, no help with bags, not shown to the room nothing. As soon as I walked into the room there was an overwhelming smell of mould and mildew. The bathroom silicone was covered in mould, the bathtub was dirty. The shower was too dismal to even wash my hair. I couldn’t unpack any clothes because the wardrobes were shocking, mouldy and stained. The towels that were provided looked over 10 years old, thread bare and gross. The room fridge had leaked water all over the floor and damaged my bags and clothing, not to mention it looked the fridge had never been cleaned. The beds were so old they had to use 3 thick mattress protectors to cover up the fact that the springs had given in. The service was shocking as well. Not once was I greeted when I came in during the day or left, not once asked how my stay was going, basically treated like I was a staff member not a paying guest. I had an order delivered to the lodge and politely asked them to bring it to my room because I wasn’t well, I was told “that’s not my job come fetch it from the desk” I took pictures to add to this review but not surprised that there isn’t an option to do so I booked for a 10 night stay but left 5 days in.
