Blue Marlin Restaurant Review
We've always enjoyed dining at Blue Marlin whenever we're in the mood for quality seafood, and it’s become our go-to spot. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the service is usually great, and the food is consistently beyond expectations. This past Saturday night was no exception—we were a group of two couples, and the evening couldn't have been more perfect.
The weather was warm, but we were comfortably seated outside in the shade, surrounded by beautiful greenery, which made the dining experience even more enjoyable. The food was excellent, as always.
However, there was a small issue when it came to paying the bill. We divided it up between the two couples, and each of us paid our portion of the bill, including the tip. Unfortunately, there was a minor miscalculation of about R15 on the tip, which was an honest mistake.
What was disappointing, however, was the way the situation was handled. The server came back to us demanding the extra tip, and she did so in a manner that was rude and accusatory, making us feel like we had tried to cheat her out of payment. We immediately apologized and I paid the extra R50 in cash to ensure she received a proper tip, which brought her total tip well above the standard 10%. Unfortunately, she took the money without a word of thanks and disappeared for the rest of the evening.
This interaction left a sour taste in our mouths, and it's truly unfortunate, as we’ve always been loyal customers of Blue Marlin. We’ve always had positive experiences here, but this kind of treatment from a staff member doesn't reflect the quality and atmosphere we’ve come to expect.
We hope that this is addressed so that future visits will continue to be as enjoyable as they have been...

The only thing I never saw - my favourite - Scallops! but maybe they're seasonal. But then, turn the corner and park at the back/on their premises, and enter and experience all of the above, served with your regular mix of drinks in a relaxed, not too posh but nice setting. Read moreHad lunch today at Blue Marlin. My wife and I both ordered the combo large hake and calamari. My wife went with the savoury rice as a side. As you can see from the pics, the savoury rice turned out to be just nornmal rice and my large hake (+220g as per menu) must have gone on a strict diet! Both the manager on duty and the waitress agreed that the fish fillet was small, but the chef was adamant that all was ok... So not a nice experience, especially as the food was just mediocre at best. So in conclusion, I would NOT recommend the Blue Marlin to anyone and will not support them in...
