I stayed at Lerato Bush Lodge for entire year of 2020 and if I had to describe my experience in one word, it would be exceptional. Relocating from KZN to Gauteng was worrisome - my main concern was finding a place that was safe and secure, but with Lerato Bush Lodge, I got so much more. Mies and Martin were very warm and welcoming hosts and created a lovely atmosphere when I first arrived. I was completely taken away by the beautiful scenery and pleasantly surprised to be welcomed by 3 beautiful and friendly dogs as well - of which made great companions throughout the year.
The lodge was fully furnished and included everything you could possibly think of. The upgraded unlimited WiFi along with DSTV provided endless entertainment - which was very much needed during the COVID lockdown. The view from the balcony overlooking the city was mesmerizing, more so when you watched the sun set.
Martin and Mies constantly made sure everything was taken care of - and if you ever needed anything or if any maintenance was required, it was immediately and professionally done. The laundry services provided was spectacular and of excellent quality.
The compassion that Mies and Martin have is truly admirable. I would like to thank them for allowing my sister to stay with me during the lockdown and at short notice too due to the interprovincial travel ban being implemented. The lodge was also a great place for isolation during such turbulent times, and I could go to work with peace of mind knowing my sister was safe and sound - with the company of 3 playful dogs and Mies and Martin on standby if anything was needed.
Lerato Bush Lodge was truly an incredible stay and I would definitely visit again in the future if I'm ever...
Read moreI checked into Lerato Bush Lodge late in the night of July 19, 2019, due to flight delays. The host was very gentle and kind towards us and received us in the super chilly night. Temperatures were really low over the period but the host willingly helped us out with his car to get our baggage to our rooms. That was how our bush experience started! The way to the self-catering apartment was very steep (I bet you, weak vehicles could not survive climbing up). Then when we got to the end of the drive, there was an interestingly uneven stone staircase to climb to the room. Getting in and out of the rooms became my major source of physical activity (allows endurance, strength building, flexibility and cardio). The next morning, our host drove us to a shopping area where we could get almost anything we needed (groceries, electricals, clothes and other personal effects) and virtually showed us how and where to get what in the vicinity.||The unit had two bedrooms, a toilet/shower, kitchen, living room and a balcony that gives a great view of Pretoria both day and night. The unit was well furnished with everything you can imagine in a kitchen and house. An LPG heating unit was provided, which was replaced immediately it run out. The unit was in the best of conditions and the hosts were prepared to provide anything else to make the stay...
Read moreI made a reservation for an apartment three months in advance, but upon my arrival, I was informed that I would need to stay in a room instead, as the lodge was fully booked. Two days later, I was moved to a different room, and shortly after, I was relocated to an entirely different establishment, the Sunset View Lodge, again citing that they were at full capacity. As for the room itself, it was cramped, the shower lacked sufficient water pressure, and it was poorly insulated. Additionally, the lodge is situated on a hill, making it difficult to access with luggage, although the staff did offer assistance. While the staff were extremely kind, made me feel at home from the first day, lent me a book, and even accompanied me to the supermarket, I still find this situation...
