Oppi Hoek GuestHouse — Hotel in Gauteng

Whilst studying towards a postgrad program I visit pretoria nearly on a monthly basis. One time I stayed in a hotel in pretoria central , I chose Oppi Hoek guest house close to the academic hospital where I was training(10 minutes walk) . Erika who is a co-owner and manages the premises warmly welcomed me. My check-in was very quick and smooth.Together with her sister Charlene and the whole team made my stay cozy and I wished I could have stayed longer. I am very grateful to their attention to detail , breakfasts are a delight , the rooms are cleaned daily and so is the linen changed daily. The pool is very clean and I found the sound from the fountain relaxing. Erika took it upon herself to get me a charger and adapter for my electrical gadgets. I did well to leave it behind for future guests. I really felt in most if not all things my hosts went an extra mile. Wifi worked perfectly during my 3night stay here. The place is really secure, quiet and is indeed "almost home " . ||At the time I stayed breakfast was the only meal on the house, I would like to commend Oppi Hoek for their neat well stocked kitchens within the rooms to make tea or microwave foodsourced from without . Lots of restaurants or food outlets to cater for lunch/dinner nearby. The bathrooms had both cold and hot running water. Slight leak in guest house no.2 on the flow tiles after showers, any good plumber should be able to sort this small leak. ||I would stay here again; thanks Erika...

Terrible experience. Owner was very rude and was drinking. Guest house looked like n a building site. Did not have a room booked out that accommodated my child. When we requested the room with the bunk bed as discussed when I did the enquiry, he accused me of not booking for my 7 year old child and accused my husband of disrespecting his wife and accused my husband of being drunk...after he drove 5 hours with his wife and child in the car? When I stated that I have call record on my phone I can play back our conversation he said maybe he had a couple for beers when I booked. What? Worst experience we ever had! I've been in the hospitality business for 19 years and would never treat guests the way they did. He just kept on with his attack against us. Even after I tried to speak to him like respectable human beinings. Needless to say we did not stay. We booked for 3 nights and a possible 4th. My husband needed to be in the area for a workshop training. We travelled with him as it was...

It is a lovely place. Friendly and helpful staff and a delicious breakfast BUT I could not sleep at all. A terrible loud noise of some kind of a machine kept on going on and off with a few minutes delay right through the night. I finally fell asleep out of pure exhaustion. I communicated this to the staff and their reply was, although apologetic, that it was a pump. I have to stay in Pretoria for 3 more nights but I would definately not spend one more night there.
