The Munro Boutique Hotel — Hotel in Gauteng

On the 18th November last year my sister celebrated her 60th Birthday and she booked the entire Munro as a private venue for this celebration. The lead up to this event and the way in which the staff handled the event was appalling. But to top all of this my iPhone 6 plus was stolen off the table on the night of the party. I used "find my iPhone" to establish where it was and found its location to be in Hillbrow. I contacted the Hotel numerous times in this regard and eventually they decided to put their staff through a lie detector, mostly to placate me I think. They established that it was one of their staff members that had stolen the phone, although they never communicated what the recourse would be for the said employer. Nonetheless, my phone was not retrieved. The owner agreed to compensate me for the loss of my phone but then later reneged on this agreement. The week before my phone was stolen, numerous wedding presents were stolen from a private wedding function, also by a staff member . I would avoid this establishment if you plan to keep...

When your personal circumstances change and you decide to cancel your wedding months in advance of the wedding date (and before the national lockdown) and still according to their contractual regulations, staff personalities do a 180 degree flip, phones get put down in your ear before you are finished speaking, emails which were instantly replied to before the cancellation, are now emails that are ignored and the process of getting hold of them becomes an absolute nightmare.

They don't abide by their own contract and make false promises to keep the money (and quite a large sum) that they owe to you, for as long as possible.

A venue I considered one of the most beautiful, romantic and inimate venues in the country, has now lost all its magic and started to show its true character.

It supposed to be a great Valentine’s Day lunch... it was a huge disappointment. We paid in advance for 3 course meal and there supposed to be live entertainment included in the price, but it wasn’t. No apology no explanation. Table was not prepared in time. Waiters were careless and not supervised. Food was bad, steak dry and obviously prepared in advance and just warmed up. Food was served in hurry without breaks. Water was served warm without ice or lemon. Bread was put on the table with melted butter after the main course. We would have better service at KFC.
