Leisure Isle Lodge — Hotel in George

As returning guests of this lodge over the years we were very disappointed to see that no investment has gone into the upkeep or refreshment of what was once a lovely place to stay on Liesure Isle and it’s really just degraded and is very tired. The lodge is understaffed so one person attends to food and beverage, luggage, maintenance and guest assistance. Our room, whilst the most expensive at the lodge, was like a hot box, and there are no air conditioners. Whilst a ceiling fan is somewhat helpful additional fans should be considered for the hot months because it’s unpleasant spending time in such a hot environment where one should be relaxing. The drains in our bathroom smelled so bad I couldn’t spend time in there. The bathroom towels have seen better days. And in todays times with all there is on offer entertainment wise, the lodge has about 6 DSTV channels and the signal is bad. ||Sadly, we won’t be returning or recommending this place again. Well appointed lodge with great lagoon views and access. We had the lodge to ourselves, checking in early just as a large group were checking out. All arrangements for the booking and check in were handled flawlessly by Cher, who handed over later on to Tawanda who looked after us very well. We booked our meal for the evening ahead of time and you would be hard pressed to dine as well anywhere else in Knysna. The predinner drinks in the bar were very welcome after a long day, and dinner in the candlelit dining room was wonderful. Nice to share a bottle of Prosecco with an old and dear friend and have only a short walk up the stairs to bed.||We shared room 10 which has two bedrooms and a shared bathroom (shower only) and a little lounge area where could sit and chat. Hot water bottles were thoughtfully provided to take the chill off. My bed was large and comfy and linen spotlessly clean. ||Highly recommend Leisure Isle and this lodge for business or pleasure. Great place to stay, Rooms are specious and well kept and stuff was very friendly except for a lady by the name of Cher who ruined our experience. We were not told that some of the services they offer are charged, such as water and soft drink in the mini fridge provided in our room and Ironing services are at a cost. Right after we dropped the keys and checked out, we received WhatsApp messages and emails from Cher which were very impolite, arrogant and ignorant. She even threatened us by telling us that she has our car registration, and that she will be informing other establishments about us. When we returned back to the lodge to settle the "so called" bill, we found that she included incorrect items on our bill, and her excuse was they have new staff hence the errors.
