Oewerpalms View Guesthouse — Hotel in George

First of all we were really impressed at the standard the room was presented. Very clean, very nice and tasteful decor. The owner Sonja was so friendly and took time out to recommend local attractions to us. The view is lovely, sadly we didn't get chance to use the pool but we would have if we had the chance. Lovely gated community felt so safe. I would just like to give a special thanks to Sonja for her help upon realisation the day of check out that we had left our rucksack the day before (with passports, digital SLR camera, GoPro and credit/debit cards) in a restaurant two hours drive away heading back towards Cape Town. Sonja was amazing help, offering to contact the restaurant for us and finding someone to (AMAZINGLY) carry the bag that day from the restaurant all the way to Oudshoorn for us, instead of us wasting another day of driving. We are still blown away by the kindness of everyone involved, especially Sonja and if there was a trip advisor medal of above and beyond kindness then this lady would certainly win the top prize. We had a very relaxing stay here. Just beautiful views of the mountains both from the delightful garden and balconies. We booked the room with private balcony. The room is very spacious and clean. ||Sonja was very welcoming and there to advise on what to do in the area. We booked the Cango caves and then enjoyed the spectacular circular two passes route. You need a full day for this but truly worth it. ||There is a shared kitchen with large fridge which works well to chill your drinks and make a cuppa. Buffet breakfast is put out at 07.30 and self service and then eaten at the tables on the upper terrace. Works well.||The guest house is in a gated area and only a very short walk from the local restaurants. We enjoyed Nostalgie and Jemima's (open Sun as others shut). We had a fantastic stay at the Oewerpalms View BB. We especially loved the garden and it’s view of the mountains, which is great to enjoy during breakfast and sunset. A perfect place to start and end the day. Our room was very good value for the money, nice and clean. Location is also perfect because most of the restaurants in the city center are in walking distance. But what made our stay special, was the outstanding hospitality of the host. When we had a little medical issue, they went really went out of their way to help us. They are incredibly friendly people and we highly recommend to stay...
