Avalon Springs — Hotel in Langeberg Local Municipality

Been going there for many many years.But slowly seeing the lack of investment back into the FACILITY and really now looking for alternatives for the family and friends to spend our thousands of hard earned money on our yearly family holiday . And we have been frequent there for a long time. Has the capacity to be world class, but unfortunately due to wrong leadership and people in power seems to be slipping into a mess. imagine asking at 10-30 pm at a holiday resort on the 31st December for a hot chocalate drink for you and your wife , and you told sorry kitchens all closed,, at a resort in peak period,, you on holiday,, mind boggling actually . This is just an indication of the poor management.

The mountain chalets,, poorly poorly maintained and cleaned,, surface cleaning from the staff,,,, lot of muck and filth in the chalet.. Old dark furniture to hide the dirt ,, A nice deep clean clean and respray of the furniture,oh yes,, remove the old bacteria invested plastic baths,, a lovely clean shower will brighten up the main bathrooms,, simple fixes ,, but no staff to lazy and management to incompetent to solve these issues . Imagine paying 12 thousand rand for a weekend to stay in old filthy units.

We go there for years to enjoy warm spring good clean water,,firstly water temp not warm like it use to be,not at all , Now importantly if you look close enough, you swimming in filthy water,, why,, there's hair floating everywhere,, mucus floating everywhere,, lots of particles floating on the water, why,, because the filtration system is poor,, that water needs to be crystal clear,, fix the damn water,, not just throw it full of chemicals,, IT NEEDS TO BE FILTERED PROPERLY,, PEOPLES HAIR,,, SNOT AND DEAD SKIN NEEDS TO BE REMOVED FROM THE WATER,, IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE A BEAUTIFUL HEALTHY SPRING WATER,NOT CHEMICAL WATER ,I CANNOT KEEP MY EYES OPEN DUE TO RUBBISH CHEMICALS KILLING ALL THE HEALTHY BENEFITS OF THE WATER,, THE MANAGER WHO MANAGES THE POOLS NEEDS TO BE FIRED, THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND FILTRATION SYSTEMS NOR WHAT THAT POOL IS SUPPOSED TO BE,, ITS A HEALTHY SPRING POOL,, NOT A PUBLIC SWIMMING POOL. IINVEST AND FIX YOUR FILTRATION SYSTEM TO CLEAN THE POOL THE WHOLE DAY PROPERLY,, IT'S DISGUSTING . SWIMMING IN RUBBISH. GET RID OF LAZY DEADWOOD STAFF WORKING. PEOPLE PAY ALOT OF MONEY TO COME TO YOUR PLACE. Montagues pools were green,, I have never seen it looking like that before,, green and terrible..

Also put a games room for the visitors, a pool table, a table tennis board,, put something fun for the guest,put some paint ball shooting up in the bushes there,, show some creativity ,, same old boring stuff.

I think this place can be magical,, an amazing setting,, Now if you want a a person who has been coming here for years and to fix the resort for you,if the owner gets this feedback send me a message. I Will put proper processes and mechanisms in place to turn this into a must stay location. This is a serious proposition.

But if this standard continues well expect to destroy this beautiful venue and loose generational clients who really loved the venue . Get rid of lazy staff and fix the resort UP Avalon,, you guys are...

I'm not going to let this one go.

Avalon Springs Resort you've got some real explaining to do.

This past weekend, my friends and I booked your accommodation. We paid R 6 600 for your highly recommended self catering houses.

We arrived late on Friday around 10pm. Settled in and went down to our jacuzzi, which is on the same premises as our house a few metres away, we still locked up everything anyway despite the security you claim to have walking around for our safety and took our room key with us, only to go back to the house a few hours later to find my bedroom window, WIDE OPEN, our house got BROKEN into. The window could not close which meant either the window was broken all along and that wasn't disclosed with us, or it's someone that knows exactly how to unscrew your slide windows that can only be opened from the inside. My phone got stolen, my friends phone, a toiletry bag with Calvin Klein cologne, even our juice out the fridge and a wallet, that they tried to clean out because we got notified by the bank that verified someone was using his card and blocked the pin.

We went though two security gates, a check in at the front desk of the hotel and got specific armbands to allocate where we stay and assured us that no one is allowed to enter our area without this armband. No staff in the area after 11pm besides security. So how did this happen?

Not only was our safety at risk, but the time frame that this was all done in, means we were being watched, our every move, at a place where we supposed to feel safe and relaxed. Our privacy completely voilated.

Your lack of empathy and blatant nonchalant behaviour towards this situation is highly disappointing.

The fact that your GM sent someone to deliver the message that he is aware of the situation, but can only compensate us if we have insurance on our phones is appalling. Is this the way you look after your guests spending their hard earned money at your resort? How sure are you that every guest that walks through your door will have insurance on their items? The police came through, yes sure, but they agreed that without insurance and living 3 hours away from the resort would prove difficult to make each court case and we would most likely not get our items back by that time anyway.

Above all we barely got an apology and still got asked to settle the R60 tourism levy at check out, after everything we have been through.

My phone is brand new and on contract. That means I have to pay for my phone every month for the next two years, for nothing. A little compensation would have been appreciated.

Highly dissatisfied and disappointed in...

We made a booking for a day visiting at Avalon Springs and we're realy looking forward to the day. In the website shows no cooler boxes, sharp items , alcohol etc. etc. No problem, we'll eat there. When we got there, it was a total disaster. We were standing in the q to go in. While standing in the q, we moved backwards, as one persone is holding a spot and the rest of their family and friends of 50 people just move infront of us. We prebooked so that means, we paid online so the q should be a problem, but instead, we are standing it that same q that everyone is just pushing in that pays at the gate, making a booking there. Almost every person that goes in there has got a cooler box and they are charged R100 for it.

So here is the problem. 1st. We were about 6th in line. By the time we got inside, 20 min later after making a scene with the manager, the place was packed, and that was before 9, full of gazebos, plastic tables, cooler boxes etc and over crowded. Looks like some people brought the whole kitchen with. So what is the purpose of doing a booking online. 2nd, while stating on the website no coolerbox and sharp items, why did they even let the people in with their cooler boxes? If I knew that, I would've brought mine too. No sharp objects they say, so I asume everyone inside with their cooler boxes eat with the hands. 3rd, why is there not 2 q's. One for people who already booked and payed, and for the late sleepers booking at the gate.

There is on the website an option to choose from meals you can pre order to braai. Why didn't those people not do that.

What Avalon springs advertise on the web site and what is realy going on, is not even the same. On the daily visitors portal they advertise all the pools, even those you can't get to, they can't stick to their own rules. Place is a dump. We walked through the place and just left and count our losses of R480. The pools are small and I can only imagine it's going to be packed in the pools when everyone wants to swim in the heat. We actually budgeted for a nice day, drinking cocktails, having a braai, jump in the pools, etc etc. Don't get your hopes up if your a traveler and havent got a gazebo and extra tabels. Lack of shade and tables to sit at. The manager just making excuses on my complaints rather than sort the problems out, and don't expect a refund.

This place only cater for the local people taking over the place. Like I said, if your a traveler, your going to feel out mosquito on a shit show. Never going to return to this place until they sort...
