Still waiting be compensated for what we’ve experience over the past weekend. Not putting my hopes up on it because after explaining our feelings about this situation to the guesthouse, we can clearly see there’s no point in keeping our bad review to ourselves.

So I let me explain exactly what happened.

Friday the 24th we arrived there at the guesthouse after a long day at work around 19:00. As we get there we get showed in by one of the african guys that treated us lovely. He showed us around and then just mentioned that the water is off but it is being fixed and will get water soon. (Not really explaining to us how serious the water situation actually is) Then the manager/owner came to us. Let me not go into detail about my first expression about him but anyways, he comes and tells us the same thing as the previous guy told us about the water. Once again, not really telling us how serious the water situation is until I questioned out about it.

First thing I asked was- will we be able to shower tonight? 😟 The answer was -No

I simply just explained to him that this not fine and note that my tone of voice was good towards him. After explaining to him the moment we met him that this is so wrong, he instead of trying to help us, kept on pushing against what we feel and confronted us even more. I mean, I wasn’t there to fight him. Only to explain that he could have informed us.

How is this acceptable? We weren't even notified about this only until we got there. They knew the water has been off since Wednesday but still didn't even do the effort in telling us the situation in advance. I mean, it's not your fault the water is not available but if we knew this/ we could have made plans/ or perhaps arrange a different place to enjoy our weekend. I mean- who wants to pay about R7k for a whole weekend getaway and you should bath out of buckets with pool water? Who pays so much to end up filling your toilet 15 times a day just to be able to do our business.

Throughout the whole weekend we tried our best to see owner/manager again and find out about what is happening? Instead he ran away and avoid us the whole weekend.

My one friend who joined our week away has bad eczema and that means her skin needs to be treated with clean water and not pool water filled with chemicals.

Once again. The water isn't your fault but we could have been told about the water situation so that we could have made a different plan instead of sitting a whole weekend without water.

We payed to have a good, relaxing weekend away and we ended up working more to help us stay clean.

What I clearly could see from him is the fact that he just didn't want to lose out on us cancelling our booking. Instead, making us live this uncomfortable. We tried sorting it out but we couldn't all because he couldn't face us and kept on dissapearing so he can't speak to us.

It was said he will give us a 50% refund, but do you think that happened? Instead- he blocked us on WhatsApp🙄

So yeah, I’ve got the right to give...

Susan and Pieter are absolutely amazing hosts. From the time my partner and I decided to make a booking at their guest house, we were met with true professionalism! Communicating with them was a breeze through emails and phone calls. They didn't get tired of our questions and queries and were always polite to respond swiftly.

Booking the suite we selected was easily done. Upon our arrival we were met by Pieter. He came out to welcome us and offered to assist us with our luggage. Pieter was friendly, calm and collected and took his time to show us around. Covid-19 protocols were followed and we had to sign in accordingly. He took time to show us around. He also showed us our jacuzzi and gave us good tips about the area and restaurants. The views from the jacuzzi area were totally beautiful!

Breakfast was served by both Pieter and Susan. Very nice homely breakfast which we enjoyed thoroughly. Loved the fruit salad..😋. Dining area was nicely set up with all we could have asked for, including the views! We really enjoyed our time at the guest house and given the opportunity we would not hesitate visiting again 😁.

On site secure parking is available and guests have freedom of movement in and out of the property with the allocated keys. The suite was clean and comfortable. The hosts even had snacks in our room which was a pleasant surprise to us. We enjoyed the air-conditioning in the room which kept us cool.

We would like to thank our hosts Susan and Pieter for their great hospitality. We have no complaints at all, only gratitude for the experience we had. Awesome from arrival to...

From arrival at the guesthouse, 2guys came down to assist us with our luggage, as we were staying on the 3rd floor. While entering the guesthouse the owner, at reception said to me before you go to your room you have to sign but with a attitude 😒.. I felt like asking my money back... it put me off totally. In our room we were followed by her husband that talked to us, and told us more about the whereabouts of harties. After that I changed my mind of leaving... the next morning as we went down for breakfast, the rest of the guests were already there. The owner then came again to us, greeted and asked how we slept, as I was starting conversation with her, she switched me off and left... I was like really 😕 So I don't know how she is talking about other guests saying we were rude.. I have nothing to hide or gain by saying the truth about your service 🤔 The lady owner really made us fell uncomfortable. How can I speak to her and tell her how she makes us feel , if ever time she us rude and blunt We even left early in the morning and went back late to the guesthouse, it felt like we were in the way, after our activities that we did for the day, we would drive around just so that time can pass. This morning we decided to skipped breakfast (which we paid for)as we felt that we were in the way, and went to wimpy.

The penthouse were we stayed was dirty and dusty. The white towels got...

My wife, 5mth old and I, spent 3 days at the venue. There’s no accessibility options for those reasons I wouldn’t suggest bringing elderly and disabled people here. Upon arrival we were offered help to carry our bags to our unit which was on the top floor(penthouse suite), only a few bags were taken and we had to carry the rest. However, the owners were amazing, very helpful and lovely people, when the power went out they assisted us very promptly as well. The only grievances we had was that the lights need servicing, the pool in our unit needed cleaning and the bathing facilities need serving as well because of broken components, lastly we did not appreciate the slight attitude we received from the one African service lady in the building throughout our stay. Our suggestions would be for the unit to have a mini microwave, as with a little one walking two flights of stairs to heat up food was a bit much on us, a few plates in the room as well and an iron for clothes.

We had a very pleasant stay. Our bags were carried to our room. The bedroom was neat with all necessary amenities. The view from the balcony is breathtaking. The private jacuzzi was our favourite place to watch the beautiful sunset over the dam. The room and balcony were cleaned daily which was nice. The included breakfasts were delicious and made the stay extra special. Thanks Pieter & Susan for welcoming us.

Our stay at El Shadai was nothing short of amazing. The penthouse suite on the top floor should be the only room you book. Incredible view, space for 4 people, private pool and friendly service from Susan, Elizabeth and the rest of the staff. We stayed for 2 nights and 3 days but definitely would have comfortably extended our stay by a few more. Highly recommended. Will book again.
