Let's face it - for most of us living in the cities the only real way our children will be able to experience and learn about different wild animals is from a zoo. After visiting both Johannesburg and Pretoria zoos, as well as Lory Park and the few little petting zoos in JHB, we decided to try this one. And what a lovely experience. This zoo is a lot smaller than JHB or PTA but wow, the enclosures are so well maintained and the animals look content and happy and cared for. It was such a refreshing experience to see this. The zoo property itself is somewhat rustic and this makes it even more fun to visit. On weekends and public holidays there is a small seal and snake show at 12pm and 3pm - good fun, especially for toddlers. There are ferry rides at an extra, inexpensive cost and additional water activities that can be done at the water centre on the property. The zoo is also small enough that you can probably cover it in a day or less but also feel accomplished and like you got your money's worth. It is pram accessible in most areas - there were 1 or 2 where I struggled and had to lift my son's pram up some steps but for the most part prams or wheelchairs are easy to manouvre. It's also a nice drive out to get there if you're coming from JHB! Big recommendations...

A Delightful Family Outing at Hartbeespoort Dam Snake and Animal Park

Our visit to Hartbeespoort Dam Snake and Animal Park proved to be a wonderful outing, filled with memorable experiences. Everything at the park was in impeccable condition, and cleanliness was evident throughout. The staff members were not only well-trained but also incredibly informative and maintained a high level of professionalism at all times.

For families seeking a Sunday adventure with the kids, this park is a fantastic choice. The array of activities available ensures that there's something for everyone to enjoy. One highlight is the fairy ride, which adds an extra element of excitement to the visit and is highly recommended.

Plan for an average of about 5 hours at the park, especially if you include the boat ride. This timeframe allows ample opportunity to explore all that the park has to offer and to fully immerse oneself in the experience.

In summary, Hartbeespoort Dam Snake and Animal Park provide an ideal setting for a fun-filled family outing. With its well-maintained facilities, knowledgeable staff, and diverse range of activities, it's a destination that promises lasting memories and enjoyment for visitors...

Not the biggest fan of zoo parks but this one is beautiful and well maintained. Each animals area is big enough for them to move around, they have shade and proper water systems. The seal and snake show is informative and fun and we got to touch the snake. Not as wheel chair friendly but with a bit of effort you can navigate well enough through the park. The animals have character. They aren't just lazing around in the hot sun but they actually moved around and the chimpanzee and monkeys are interactive. They have food stalls on the premises, a picnic area and sufficient seating with tables.

It's literally on the damn so the views going though the park is amazing with lots of selfie and photo opportunities for you and your family It's actually a really great experience. Up the road from the park are a few restaurants and the damn wall where you go through the tunnel and get to see more of the fan itself. The whole area is just a great experience. Make...
