The place is nice. Very neat. Clean lawns and well maintained. Nice pool area. The rooms are basic. Intially checking in the rooms that were booked was not being given by the receptionist, we had booked 1 room with a king size bed and 2 rooms with 2 single beds. She was adamant on giving 3 rooms with all king size beds. We had stated that we booked otherwise and she didn't listen. Insisting we are wrong. After a 9 hour drive. This wasn't cool. To go back to the vehicle to get the printed email proof. Then only she would admit she was wrong and book us in. Terrible attitude and service. Only good for an overnight stay. If you're on the ground floor be aware anyone in parking lot can see in your room. The curtains don't close fully. So I used a chair to block it. If cars park at night the light shines in the room. First stay the reception staff messed up booking and entered incorrect invoice information. Majority of them didn't know how to use a computer. Second stay. Toilet door didn't close. Faulty tap at wash basin which leaked. The breakfast was R200 which was an absolute rip off. Everything was bland and tasted like it was 2 days old. The hashbrown was the worst thing I've eaten. Tasted like old oil. The only good tasting and edible thing there was muffins. Sausages. Bacon. Croissants, all tasted like it was stale. There were never staff around to serve coffee. It was dreadful. The side plates were dirty from previous people. Cutlery dirty. The tissues in those packs were dirty with sauce and food stains. Staff never checked these things during covid. It's disgraceful. Considering we're in a pandemic. The 2 stars are literally for a nice looking building. The idea of the rooms giving history about Kruger Park and local culture. I liked that. I can see that Marriott have the idea. However staff execution is abysmal and non existent. I don't usually give bad reviews but this place pushed me to my breaking point and I have to share to warn others. Definitely skip this one and look elsewhere for other options. Checking out Vincent does not know how to print an invoice. Stacey tried to help printing but ignored us and helped someone behind us printing his invoice and saying she will email ours. I will never book...

We had another amazing stay at this hotel, a true hidden gem in Nelspruit. The staff is outstanding, always friendly, engaging, and genuinely welcoming. Their warmth and professionalism create a home-away-from-home atmosphere.
Check-in & Marriott Bonvoy Recognition
Check-in was smooth and personal, with a warm chat while our details were processed. The staff remembered us from past stays, which was a lovely touch. As Bonvoy members, we received all benefits without asking, including an upgrade to a larger King room and a thoughtful welcome gift of biltong, dried fruits, and chips.
The Property & Rooms
The hotel has a unique charm, blending modern and African country chic. The courtyard, lounge, and pool area are beautifully maintained and add to the relaxing vibe. However, some areas are showing signs of age, and a refresh would be welcome.
Our King room was comfortable, with a cozy atmosphere and plenty of natural light, but the floors were worn, and the shower pressure remained an issue. Despite this, the bed was fantastic, with high-quality pillows and bedding ensuring a great night’s sleep.
Housekeeping & Dining
Housekeeping was impeccable, with rooms cleaned to perfection. The Fig Tree Restaurant offered an excellent breakfast buffet, including fresh fruit, pastries, a live cooking station, and high-quality hot dishes. Dinner was equally impressive, featuring local specialties. The bar had a great ambiance, and we enjoyed fantastic mojitos by the pool.
Final Thoughts
This hotel is a perfect retreat in Nelspruit, with exceptional staff and a welcoming atmosphere. While a refresh is needed, the service and warmth more than make up for it. We highly recommend it and are...
