Boschendal 10 Guesthouse — Hotel in Sol Plaatje Local Municipality

The rooms are pleasant, clean and well appointed. However we returned on Saturday afternoon to find our rooms had not been made up. The excuse was that they had no spare keys. We could not have left our keys as then we would have been unable to reenter on our return. Not the service one expects. When I took up the matter on the following Tuesday with the owner, she said that daily cleaning is not the norm, unless requested. She stated she is a regular traveller, and assured me that this is normal all over the world. Well, I don't know what backpackers and hostels she stays in, but I sleep away from home 35% of the time, in many countries, and that is certainly NOT normal, and certainly not in a place that sets itself up as being upmarket. Rooms are cleaned daily. That's the rule. And then.... There was a broken toilet seat in one of the three rooms. No one was available to report the matter to. One of the group was injured (cut) by the broken seat. Even when it was reported later, there was no interest to inspect the seat. Imagine when after checkout, I was contacted by the absent owner to pay for the seat! No apology. No concern for the injury. Just a demand for money! I'll go somewhere else next time. ...

I like this place. Nothing special really in the room , but its clean, tidy and cheap. The big thing is the hospitality and safe under cover parking. Guesthouse DSTV channels and WiFi is an added bonus. I have only stayed in Kimberley 4x times , but I think I am done looking. If I ever go to Kimberley again,...
