Lourens River Guesthouse — Hotel in Somerset West

My hubby and I have just returned from three weeks touring around South Africa on motorcycles and were fortunate enough to start our trip at Lourens River Guesthouse. Thomas collected us from Cape Town airport and took us back to the B&B. We were warmly welcomed by Elke and shown our beautifully appointed room.||||Having flown from Heathrow, via Abu Dhabi and Johannesburg, a total of almost 24 hours, it was a relief to have a very comfortable bed to relax on. We were starting and ending our trip at Lourens River Guesthouse and Thomas and Elke kindly let us leave empty suitcases stored in their garage while we were on the bikes.||||The continental breakfast was brilliant and the fresh selection of bread rolls irresistible. A perfect start to our holiday. On our return, Thomas had prepared a wonderful braai and it was fabulous not to have to think about what to eat.||||For a relaxed, friendly rest, I can recommend Lourens River Guesthouse and look forward to going back there in the not too distant future.||||Thanks...

I turned up without a reservation having had a long drive. The welcome was very warm, whilst they were almost full they put themselves out to get me a room for the length of my stay - advising me that I'd change rooms mid stay. ||Lovely family style breakfast with all guests sitting around the same table so making the experience a bit more intimate and enjoyable.||Thursday was Brai night I was told - would I join in I was asked? You bet ya! and what a great decision that was - A fine feast was cooked to perfection by Thomas and wine chosen by Elke helped it go down.||If you want to feel like one of the family and have a comfortable and well equipped stay then this surely must be for you. I stayed for 2 nights a the guesthouse, and experienced a fantastic service, my room was great, Thomas the owner served fabulous breakfast and took the time to pick us up from and to the airport, and provided a very useful and economical car rental service.
