I went to the Cafe on the 09 August 22,the place was very clean a d very well looked after and so were the cats that were there. It was a public holiday and we were shown to were the restaurant was. We were informed the the ladies were not being charged the entrance fee only the men thus the public holiday. We ordered drinks toasted sandwiches and some cake slices. We played with the cats while waiting for our order drinks arrived and 35 minutes later I asked the waiter how long it would take as they were definitely not baking the cake at the back, I showed him our drinks were up he could have brought the cake slices at least. I was informed that they only have one sandwich press and that's why it's taking so long, when our bill arrived we added it up I was happy to give the waiter a R50 tip and a R100 donation for the cats. We were informed that we had to pay in front by the curio shop once there my bill changed to a different amount coz it was entrance fee times per hour wow what a set back moment, they just ruined it totally, I really liked the place after that all my people didn't Evan bother with supporting the curio shop we were asked to tell people about the place and come again, the first impression of that place made by the very people who work there is chasing customers away. Cat Cafe you have lost my vote due to the way the place is run. I wasn't Evan worried about the fact that one can see the cakes are from pick n Pay but to be taken for a ride the buck stops there. My family loves cats but they switched us off with the manner of per hour per billing, I also don't see signs up informing you of what you can expect. Sorry cats there definatley needs to be...
Read moreCat Heaven Rescue Cat Cafe & Gift Shop in Somerset West is a true haven for cat lovers, and my recent visit left me with pawsitively wonderful memories. 🐾🐾
The beautiful murals and the well-designed cat house with a myriad of obstacles and comfy spots for the cats are simply enchanting. The R30 entrance fee is a small price to pay for the joy of being surrounded by these adorable felines. The option to "sponsor a cat" at R130.00 per month is a heartwarming touch, allowing patrons to connect with their furry friends on a deeper level. 😸😺😻😼😽
On the flip side, the menu could benefit from a wider selection. The toasties 🥪, while tasty, offer limited choices, basically 2: Cheese & Tomato / Chicken & Cheese. However, it's great to see additional snack options on the menu, such as ice-cream 🍨, popcorn 🍿, cat snacks, and cake. The drinks menu has your basic soda's, coffee, tea & water. 🥤The CAT--PUCCINO was great! 👌🐈
To enhance the overall experience, I suggest expanding the menu with more diverse options. Perhaps introducing salads, hamburgers, and beverages like ice-coffee or milkshakes could cater to a broader audience. A selection of cat-themed pastries or desserts would also add a fun touch, aligning with the cafe's theme.
Despite the sub-standard menu, the opportunity to spend time in the delightful company of the cats makes the visit worthwhile. Paulie being my favourite! ❤️ Cat Heaven Rescue Cat Cafe & Gift Shop has the potential to be an even greater destination for cat enthusiasts with a more varied and enticing menu. Here's to hoping for a future where patrons can savor both the delightful company of cats and a scrumptious array of...
Read moreThe cats are very cute and well looked after but that's about as far as this place goes. There is very little to order on the menu, not even hot chocolate, and the food on the menu is barely existant (I think there was one thing that you could have for lunch). The cheese cake they sell comes from the nearest Spar so that was disappointing too, we had 2 slices and I could've just bought the whole cheese cake for R10-R20 more.
I was going to overlook all that because the whole place is centred around the cats so I can't expect much on the cafe side, but then as we were paying they put a charge per hour per person on our bill. They charge R20 per hour of being there per person. That is one sure way to make sure people don't come back. What's the point in a cafe if you can't sit, read and enjoy yourself? It's like they don't want you to come back. I might've not seen it but I'm pretty sure they didn't say anywhere that they charge an hourly fee for sitting there.
Overall this place was really mediocre and I felt cheated leaving. People get blinded by the cute cats and don't realise that this place is really not good. Doesn't...
