Review for the small cottage in the back of the property:
The room is odd, appears to have been staff quarters or perhaps even stables in the distant past. Well appointed with comfortable beds including electric blankets, a rattan chair, table and four chairs, together with a gas heater. A small kitchenette with small gas stove, wash basin, and some utensils with cookware. Knives are kept sharp which we thought was a very nice, albeit subtle, touch.
The bathroom is a mixed bag of cramped (basin and shelving) and spacious (shower). Water is extremely hot which was nice. The taps could do with refurbishment, basin and shower taps look worn and kitchen taps are very close to the basin causing water to splash everywhere.
We travelled with pets which made the unit mostly unsuited for to our needs since we could not properly ventilate the place out - We had to keep the windows shuttered.
The yard needs a lot of work, but it was wintertime and the garden looked far nicer than we expected it would.
The hostess is extremely friendly and polite, yet reserved so never imposed. She recommended a few places for us to visit, all of which turned out great.
All in all, the cottage is best suited for short stay and travel without pets. The location is great, around 1.4km from the town centre and far away enough from the main road that noise isn't too much...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe booked this self-catering cottages for one night. We took our puppy with, we stayed in the āgrasdak cottageā itās a lovely open plan self-catering unit, with secure off street parking right next to your cottage. It consists of a king-size bed with crisp linen, a small en suite bathroom with only a shower, a fully equipped kitchen with a fridge/freezer, microwave oven, kettle and everything you need to make your own food. There was a dining room table with chairs to sit on next to the kitchen. A small living area with a fireplace. Wood was supplied at no extra cost. It was freezing cold, and it was raining we really enjoyed the fireplace. There was enough wood to last the whole evening. We did not prepare our own food we went out for dinner. We felt welcome as the owner, Michael was very friendly and helpful. Our puppy enjoying himself playing with the owners dogs for a short while. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely go back. If you are looking for a self-catering unit thatās pet friendly and have a fireplace, Lantern is the...
Ā Ā Ā Read morewe recently stayed here for 2 nights in the cottage which consisted of a bedroom/seating/kitchen area with a separate bathroom with shower and toilet. The first day it was late enough arriving for us but the area and the cottage was nice. The second day never stopped raining and the reserve I had organised to go to (marloth) was closed due to the rain. we ended up in side most of the day which would have probably been alleviated had there been a TV (theres no tv) it was also cold and the fire place had not been explained and contained just a large grate. I cooked on the property (I forgot to tell them I'd left some bolognese as I'd made too much) Just don't expect to cook a chicken dinner or anything. This being said, it's practicalities and I would definitely recommend this accommodation to friends. there is an outdoor pool, a chicken coop..oh but please bring earplugs. the noisiest bird ever think wood pigeon (and I'm a bird person, I own 2 parrots) it...
