Inverness Farm Cottages — Hotel in uMgeni Local Municipality

We stayed in the Gallery Cottage with our children and grand children for 4 nights to attend the Midmar Mile 2023. The cottage is beautiful but not well maintained. We were supplied with fire wood for the fireplace on arrival and once thereafter. We were supplied with clean towels and 2x dishcloths on arrival and had to ask for clean towels, cloths and a refuse bag on day 3 which was brought to us with a dozen fresh farm eggs (thank you). We had so much rain and mud and wet conditions (due to nature, not their fault) but we thought that at least the hosts would have thought of towels & dish cloths every day because it wouldn't dry in that conditions. The hosts let us know to send a message if we need anything, which we did and they did assist but we felt they should have done more from their side to make us feel welcome and provided for. The roof leaked in several places.... water came through the light above the bed in the main bedroom leaving the bed soaking wet... We were also supplied with toiletpaper and a little dishwash liquid on arrival which we ran out of and and filled up ourselves. We were supplied with a candle and a rechargable lamp but NO matches or lighter. There was NO fire extinguisher. There was NO oven or some sort of electric frying pan. Also no microwave oven. There was a small gas stove, a pot with no lid, 2 pans and an oven pan. The rest of the cutlery and glasses was in place. There was a build-in braai & roster outside which we couldn't use due to the unforseen rain and wet conditions but for the price we paid we felt that better kitchen appliances or even a kettle braai could've been provided. Bed linen, duvet covers & inners and pillows also definitely not on standard and worth for the price we paid.... Throws, scatters, carpets and blankets were okay. The stairs to the loft is a HUGE safety risk seeing that it has no rails... my daughter and myself nearly fell over the bottom stairs when we had to go to the kitchen and the bathroom. We had to constantly watch the 2 small ones who wanted to climb the stairs like all children do. You can't build a loft with stairs that high with NO handles; it is even unsafe for adults. I am not sure what was meant by Plunge Pool that was advertised at the cottage... the nearest thing to it was a fish pond on either side of the entrance to the front door... We ran out of hot water and electricity several times during our short stay... The place was not clean on arrival, there was spiderwebs all over the place. My husband got a shock to see how dirty and dusty it was under the bed when he was looking for something. Um kurz vor Ende der Weihnachtsferien nochmals eine Auszeit zu haben, haben wir kurzentschlossen 2 Nächte in den Midlands gebucht. ||||Die Midland Inverness Cottages liegen unweit der Abfahrt Balgowan/Curry‘s Post. Der Weg dorthin führt über eine teilweise recht ausgefahrene Piste und ist bei Regen ziemlich rutschig. Ein normaler PKW ist jedoch ausreichend. ||Die Cottages sind auf einer Farm mit Hühner, Schafen, Schweinen, Pferden und sehr großen, aber sehr netten Hunden, die einen auf Spaziergängen rund um die Cottages begleiten und die Gäste beim Nachhausekommen begrüßen. ||||Wir hatten das größte der 4 Cottages gebucht, das etwas abseits vom Haupthaus und den anderen liegt. Es ist offensichtlich aus einem alten Farmgebäude entstanden und hat einen sehr schönen Blick über das Tal. ||||Das Cottage hat 2 Schlafzimmer mit je einem Badezimmer und einem offenen Wohnraum mit Küche und Wohn-/Esszimmer. Außen gibt es einen kleinen Sitzplatz mit Grill. ||Die Dekoration des Cottages ist mit viel Liebe zum Detail gemacht für meinen Geschmack war es jedoch insgesamt zu vollgestopft mit Krimskrams. ||Die Schlafzimmer sind klein und die Bäder noch kleiner. Das Duschbad hat die Toilette so in eine Ecke gedrückt, dass man ohne Verrenkungen nicht an das Toilettenpapier kommt. In dem Bad mit Wanne ist es besser, aber die Badewanne kommt nur für ein Sitzbad in Frage. ||Leider fanden wir auch die Betten ausgesprochen unbequem und durchgelegen. Nach den zwei Nächten hatte ich erhebliche Rückenschmerzen. ||Die Küche hat alles, was man für einen Kurzaufenthalt braucht, aber der Herd und auch der Kühlschrank sind ein paar Jahrzehnte alt. ||||Das Cottage ist so sauber, wie man es von einem alten Gebäude erwarten kann. Ich bin kein Fanatiker, was Insekten im Haus angeht insbesondere auf einer Farm, aber die Hundertschaft an Kellerasseln, die sich morgens im Bad mit der Badewanne am Fenster und dann im Bad tummelte, hat mich dann doch gestört. ||Was besonders genervt hat, war die Dame, die sauber gemacht hat. Wir haben unsere mitgebrachten Lebensmittel in Plastikkisten auf der Küchentheke abgestellt. Sie hat leider alles, vom Zucker über Müsli, Nudeln, etc. in den diversen Schränken verstaut, so dass wir erst alles wieder suchen mussten, um zu kochen und es am nächsten Morgen wieder mitzunehmen. Auch unsere Reisetasche war in einem Schrank verschwunden und die Jacken aufgehängt. Für gerade mal 2 Nächte möchte ich einfach nicht alles auspacken. ||||Alles in einem hatten wir einen gemischten Eindruck. Die Lage in den Midlands ist gut und ruhig, aber das Cottage hat insgesamt enttäuscht. Das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis ist für die Gegend ebenfalls...

I made a reservation 6 weeks earlier. Then 4 days before I called to confirm my reservation and to let them know that I will be arriving late. That was also to ensure that if there are arrangements for keys to be made available or any other instructions. The phone was not answered and was given an option to leave a message, which I did. After 24 hours I called again, and when there was no answer I sent an email. That was also not responded to or acknowledged. But I traveled nevertheless, and when I was about an hour to the venue I called, and the phone was answered.
